12 oz. on tap at the tasting room in Portland, Maine.

Appearance: Hazy straw with a big crown of white foam that retains well. Looks like a saison.

Aroma: Nice mix of aromas here. Citrus, some barnyardyness, lemon, maybe some pepper.

Taste: Follows the nose. Nice mix of citrusy hops and grassy, faintly herby flavor. Some funk, too. Flavors come out as it warms.

Mouthfeel: Pretty standard depth for a saison.

Overall: Oxbow is one of, as far as I know, very few breweries doing modern interpretations of this "miner style" grisette beer. I like their Loretta a little bit more, but this is quite tasty.

Very pale yellow pour. Smells delicate but nice, light spice complexities and citrusy American hops. Tastes equally faint and delicate, but also complex. Saison spice up front, tart and sweet middle, citrus hop finish.

On tap at Oxbow in Portland. Hazy pale yellow. Creamy white head. Sweet tropical hop aroma. Like a mango candy. Light wheat and faint yeastiness. Tastes hoppy up front. Less sweet that I expected. Tropical up front, then more citrusy. Light pale malt and wheat. Creamy body with soft carbonation. Really nice, simple, and drinkable.

Enjoyed at the Dive bar.

A - Poured into a standard tulip a crystal clear straw hue with a fat white head that fades to leave creamy blanket with nice lacing.

S - Aromas of horse blanket, lemons, musty basement, maybe faint funk and earthy hops.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, loads of horse blanket and musty funk, light lemons. Earthy, grassy hops, little bit of peppery spice.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, crisp, dry.

O - Overall this saison was alright, much more musty basement than I'm used to. Nice lemon and funk levels though.

On-tap 8/1/2015 at Armsby Abbey, in Worcester, MA served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a light cloudy yellow color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a very thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains strong Brettanomyces, citrus, Belgian yeast and light malts.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of wheat, Belgian yeast and a light malt character. Then some tartness comes in from the Brett and citrus. The hops presence is very mild and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly tart but also a bit harsh.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, it’s a solid beer but there are better choices within the style.

Pours a mild to bright yellow with a minimal white head, but good lacing that sticks around for 15-20 mins. The aroma is of lemon peel, roasted barley (though I don't think it's even an ingredient), earthy tones, and a finishing note of orange juice. The taste is of lemon, old yeast, malt, and a hint of lime juice maybe? Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied and perfectly carbonated for the style. Overall a great beer wouldn't drive to Newcastle again to get it though

A 16 oz. pour at the Little Tap House on 7/20/15. Light, cloudy. Smells like a Saison, but drinks much lighter. Nice citrus notes and light bitter finish. I typically don't care for Saisons, but I enjoyed its much more subdued characteristics. Great summer beer.
