Ligna is brewed with American toasted oak cubes and cedar. It is also strained trough sawdust and finally stored in oak barrels.

Brewed in October 2017.
The colour is deep brow, almost black. The liquid is clear. The low airy head sinks slowly down to a thin ring leaving no lacing.
The smell is rich with notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Hints of olives, figs, roasted nuts, nutmeg and tamarind. Some Madeira and smooth alcohol.
The taste is strong and bold with passing clean sweetness. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, ripe citric fruits (tangerines and bitter oranges). Hot, almost burning alcohol. Madeira and salty caramel in the dry aftertaste as well as salty liquorice, dried banana and dried apples, some oak and toffee. Salt liquorice, oak cubes and alcohol in the quite short aftertaste.
The carbonation is medium strong, the small bubbles short-lived. The liquid is thick and smooth.
A complex beer with rather hot alcohol. I think that the overly strong liquorice flavour in the aftertaste ruined some of this beer.
