Notes: Situational Ethics is a series of decadent imperial stouts, each aged in a different barrel. This bottle is the Bourbon barrel-aged version, with Batdorf & Bronson coffee and Ugandan vanilla beans added.

500mL bottle acquired at The Garage (Atlanta, GA). 12.00. Released 12/16/17. Served in a Monday Night snifter. Enjoyed 12/17/17.

Pours midnight black with a little more than two fingers of dense mocha head. The foam fades to a few small wisps and modest collar, leaving no lacing to speak of.

Smells roasty and inviting. Huge heavily roasted malt notes are wrapped up in caramel macchiato, vanilla, wet wood, chocolate and bourbon.

Flavors are big and boozey. Those deeply roasted malts remain at the forefront, complimented by coffee, dark chocolate fudge, faint bourbon, cooked caramel, booze soaked charred oak, subtle vanilla and surprisingly subdued alcohol given the high content.

Lush, full body with appropriately mellow carbonation. Aftertaste of bitter roast, mocha and some sweet bourbon.

Monday Night is coming out of the gates proving the worth of their recently opened second facility, The Garage. This first variant of Situational Ethics is a spot on example of what I like in a barrel aged coffee stout. I’m looking forward to cracking open the other two variants.

Very balanced coffee and vanilla notes. Subtle nose. Nice rich coating mouthfeel. Slightly boozy finish -to be expected with BA. Would buy again and for the 13 buck price point who wouldn't.

It's been awhile since I've had this, but at the time (and now) this was the best beer I ever had. Appearance was perfect for this style; served up in a snifter with a nice layer of cappucino like foam. Aroma was like a vanilla and dark chocolate melding too perfect to describe. Taste was similarly perfect. To this day I've never had anything quite as tasty.
