Dinner For One. Such a lonely name, but such a tasty beer. The latest hoppy release from Monday Night Brewing, this spelt IPA uses spelt, Pilsner malt and torrified wheat. Mosaic, Motueka and Hallertau Blanc hops combine for a citrusy background. The result? A rustic, smooth IPA that's the perfect pair for ramen noodles, tv dinners and boxed mac and cheese.

12oz can from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 13.99/ 4 pack. Canned 8/22/18. Served in a Monday Night snifter. Enjoyed 9/7/18.

Pours a hazy, faded pale yellow with a three quarter finger cap of loose white head. The froth subsides, leaving an island of loose foam, tiny collar and a few strands of light lacing.

Smells of dank citrus, dry grass, lemon zest and faint pepper.

Flavors are moderately bitter with both hops and malts readily apparent. Orange, grapefruit, lemon, grain, grass, a rye-like peppery note and some flower pedals.

Medium body with generous carbonation. Bitter, grassy, grainy finish.

More tasty hops from Monday Night. Dinner For One is slightly more bitter than many of their more recent offerings and has a malt presence that almost borders red or rye IPA.

Very interesting spelt IPA. To me the spelt adds a nuttiness that plays off of the light malt and the hops to equal something fairly light and low alcohol, but moreish. Very drinkable, complements chhese very well- a bit pricey for the abv, but a winner.

L - huge frothy bright white head atop a translucent yellow body.

S - huge orange punch, herb, pine.

T - earthy, floral, and herbal, followed by caramel, orange, and pine. Low bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. Low booziness.

F - medium body and carb.

O - an unusual hop profile, with citrus in the background and earthy/floral hops more forward.

12 ounce can - Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

BEST BY 12/24/18. Hey, whaddya know, they began dating on the very bottom of the can instead of awkwardly angled onto the bottom lip (I could nearly never make it out).

Appearance: Pours a lightly hazy, soft yellow-hued body. Loosening, white foam for nearly an inch of head formation.

Smell: Floral, fruity (citrusy) and just a tad perfumy. Chiefly hop-forward, the nose, though some doughy, faintly grainy malt touches persist.

Taste: Tangy, lightly grainy infused with some crisp pils accents. Remains tangy as it transitions into the hop flavors, a citrusy duo of lemon-lime with a spoonful of white wine. Lightly resinous. Moderate bitterness. A small cudgel of booziness thwacks ya as the citrus and wine ramp up on the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Not as polished as one might expect from MN.
