English Barleywine brewed with lager yeast.
While we were building our new brewery we were aging this beer in bourbon barrels previously used for our Barrel-Aged Framinghammer Baltic Porter. Lengthy aging allows the 13.5% ABV beer to mellow and develop a deep molasses-like sweetness with port-like dark fruit flavors. This beer is a sipper- you’ve been warned!

Poured into an antique German pilsener glass
Looks like a light maple syrup, opaque, streams of micro carbonation, two finger taupe foam cap settles into a dense layer of bubbles, nice lacings
Aroma of bourbon, sweet bourbon,
Taste of bourbon at the back of the tongue, sweetness, second sip bourbon on the tip of the tongue with malt backing,
Smooth almost creamy mouthfeel , the alcohol is well hidden here, present but not with the after burn, nicely balanced
Great for. Cold winter evening
Great beer, love it and would repeat

On tap at Joe Bean Coffee Bar in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a tawny brown-ish color, slightly murky, with a one inch head, and no lacing.
Smells like rich caramel, maybe a little hazelnut, toffee, and bourbon.
This is one silky and luxurious barley wine (lager wine?). It's got a realyl deep and sweet malt character to it, heavy caramel, some nuttiness (hazelnut, mainly), with silky bourbon, some oak, and vanilla.
This has a slightly syrupy mouthfeel, with a lower level of carbonation.
Another bangin' BABW from Jack's Abby, awesome stuff.
