Notes / Commercial Description:

Big, bold, black, and aged in bourbon barrels with orange peel. The lengthy conditioning period in the barrels creates a silky smooth chocolatey mouth feel enhanced by the use of oats and brown sugar during the brew process. Noticeable sweetness gets balanced by roasted malt and hop bitterness. Additional flavors include bourbon, oak, and spice.

I'm going up a limb on this baltic porter, which is crazily original and soothing, tho strong.
Sum greater than the parts. On tap rattle n hum 33 St NYC.
a) opaque black-brown, with scant rosy-brown head that rings but neither laces nor lasts, still because of the ruby highlights it wins on color and depth.
s) Light cocoa, lots of medicine and bar cabinet, with churchwood oak, Brandy, and incense. Too faint.
t) Explodes in flavor following the nose to a higher place, one of the most interesting flavor profiles ever, as rich as any trappist or rare vos. Lots of medicine, bourbon, brandy, wood, incense. If you wish a short strong brew or a bed time brew before your sweetie, this ties the ribbon on it. 4.75!
f) full bodied, kissy, wet kiss, slick and sticky on the lips.
o) better as she warms (like your sweetie.)

Tasted from bottle. Pours black with beige head. Aroma of chocolate, brandy, caramel. Well balanced with moderate sweetness. You do get a little orange on the taste with brown sugar, caramel, cocoa, vanilla, brandy, licorice. Very well done complex Baltic porter.

Poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a super dark brown almost black color with a slim cap of a little off white foamy head that slid off at a nice pace. Light film of lace develops in and around the top of the glass.
The aroma had some sweet bourbon barrel up front, light trace of orange peel, good balance of milk chocolate and some sweet dark fruits rounding out the edges.
The flavor tuned in on the sweetness of the blend of the milk chocolate and the dark fruits. Orange peel seemed a shade lighter but showed some noticeable sort of quality to it. Bourbon barrel warmed with the sips. Mild balanced bourbon sweet to milk chocolate (but more like cocoa powder) in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a semi-sipping quality about it. Noticeable bourbon barrel spicy harshness does convey some distractibility but honestly, really isn't "too" overbearing. Carbonation felt on par. ABV felt appropriate. Finish seemed a bit leaning towards the spicy harshness which was fine.
Overall, Baltic porter? Yeah, I can see it, but with a Jack's Abby sort of twist with some extra fun things happening. I'd still have again.

From the half liter bottle dated 03/09/17. Sampled on August 31, 2017.

The pour is a gorgeous looking dark brown to near black with a soft but fading tan head. Opaque.

The aroma evolves some. Yes, I get an immediate dark roasted sweet malt character, chocolate, Bourbon, and wood. The orange seems to get more prominent as time goes along. Low alcohol note for 11.5%.

Bold, full body. Smooth and creamy.

The taste is rich and sweet with a more notable alcohol burn warming the palate. The chocolate is less and the orange is near invisible from the flavor.
