Beer Geek Helles is a collaboration between Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers and New England Brewing Co. The beer makes use of custom malts by Stone Path Malt, and uses Nelson Sauvin and Hallertau Blanc hops. The brew itself involved a double decoction mash procedure, a traditional German technique that involves the repeated cooking of the wort.

First had poured from pint can into Pilsner glass. Purchased without recommendation other than experience with other JA beers, this is an excellent Helles Lager, but probably richer than those brewed in Munich.

Nice and clean, easy drinking helles. Could use a bit more grainy malt in both body, taste, and mouthfeel. Clear with some head that quickly dissipated.

Served from the 16 ounce can into 16 ounce perfect pint glass. No visible canning date on cans.
Color is fined and clarified clear copper. Looks very clean and true to the style.
Aroma is lightly floral, white wine, with crackery and biscuity malts.
Taste is really well crafted for the style. This reminds me a lot of Victory's original Brandywine Creek Lager. Dry, with specialty malts mashed to perfection. The european hops play nicely with the malts here. A little bit of bite up front, with a nice malt body behind it.
Year round offerings with a similar taste and body would be Victory Helles Lager and Sly Fox Helles. Both of the aforementioned are very sugary though, and they don't have the finished fermentation, lagering and refinement that Beer Geek Helles has.
A nice offering from Jack's Abby and NEBCO, and very true to the style.

Strong hop presence, hints of apple and maybe grape, very crisp overall presentation.
