Decoction mash and the exclusive use of Vienna malt creates a traditional malty character. Lightly hopped with Bavarian hops and left unfiltered, yielding a lightly fruity aroma.

Hazy, golden colored body; thick, frothy head. Warm aroma of toasted grains with some feathery esters. Flavors of toasted cereal grains and mild caramel; well-balanced hop bitterness offsetting the sweetness. Medium body; a little warm with a gentle prickliness to the palate; balanced sweet/dry finish.

A well done and flavorful lager, malty with complementary bitterness offset and with a slight taste of peach-like fruitiness.

I find this to be a very good lager, very satisfying, just the right taste, I really hope I can find this again, this was bought as a single at a distributor.

Smooth with character. Very good tasting, not overly carbonated, solid malt feel, lightly hopped. A very good Kellerbier

Had this on 2018-06-10 in Columbia, PA from a 16oz can

A - Hazy golden-amber with a 1-finger pillowy white head that sticks around leaving good lace.

S - Rich French bread, noble spice, apple fruit sweetness, hint of caramel.

T - Follows the smell. Plenty of lightly toasted bread, apple butter, some caramel, noble hop spices; rounded out with 20 IBUs for a perfect balance.

M - Medium body and carbonation. Silky and soft before finishing moderately dry.

O - My first reaction to the smell and taste of this beer was a resounding "Hell Yes". Much like the goodness that was Weihenstephaner's one-time "1516" Kellerbier.

Notes: Miraculously, this beer apparently wasn't too popular here in PA and it was heavily discounted just after the best-by-date and I was able to get some cases of 16-oz cans for $19.95, which is cheaper than most macro brews. Crazy but true.

Note on 2019-04-28: OK, admittedly it was excessive but I bought 8 cases last year at $19.95/case. I'm down to my last case. I know it is now 14 months old, but this beer is still tasting quite good. Hope they resurrect it in 2020 as it didn't get brewed in 2019. I'm enjoying the fresh House Lager of course, but this Saxony Lager really grabs me where I live.

16 oz can, dated 1/29/18.

I poured this in two separate 8 oz servings. The first pour was clear and light amber with a medium sized white head. Good head retention with spotty lacing. The second pour was noticeably more turbid with a slightly darker shade of amber. Less of a head the second time around as well.

Toasted bread, grains, caramel, and apple aroma. The fruit really caught me off guard, as it's not hidden at all, but it gets overshadowed by the toastiness of the malt.

More toasted malt in the flavor but it's more subdued than in the aroma. Light caramel smoothness and just barely some faint earthy hops for balance.

Smooth and medium bodied. A little on the sweet side in the finish. A solid yet unspectacular Vienna lager.

Golden and cloudy with a white head.

Smells malty and fruity wth some breadiness coming through.

Taste is similar to smell. Nice balance of flavors with the fruity flavors lingering a bit.

Interesting but very drinkable.
