Very Good
Notes: Shipping out of Boston is our take on a German-Style Export Lager. Export Lagers were originally brewed stronger than other pale lagers to endure lengthy travel times. This kellerbier is brewed with a blend of German specialty malts for a deeply golden lager with an intense sweet biscuit flavor. Like the rest of the beers in our Keller Series, Shipping Out of Boston is left unfiltered.

Pours clear gold with a white head that leaves a trail of lace.

Smells of spicy grain, lemon hops, roasted nuts.

Spicy grain and lemon hops give way to sweet cereal malt middle. Finishes dry with notes of toasted barely.

On tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a mostly clear dark orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like sweet biscuity malt, with grassy hops, and some tea.

This is simple, but very well done. The malt character is very nice, lightly sweet and very toasty and biscuity, with a very light hop character.

It's incredibly drinkable, with a very crisp and cleanly fermented feel to it. There's a normal level of carbonation.

This is directly up Jack's Abby's alley, and it's done quite well.

Clear dark honey gold in color, with a touch of floating sediment, lots of rising bubbles, and a creamy eggshell white head that lasts for a long time and leaves nice lacing.
Smells of cool, minty Noble hops; fresh cut grass, bell pepper, perhaps a touch of catnip--with honey sweetness, toasted wheat bread, and raw cereal grains.
A nice smack of tantalizing honey, with toasted biscuit, bread crust, and cereal. Grainy and rustic, with a pleasant candied malt sweetness. On the back end you get the pleasant touch of balancing herbal Noble hops--fresh cut grass, bell pepper, white pepper, lemon zest, and hay. Leans slightly sweet--at least, initially, but finishes incredibly crisp, clean, and balanced.
Feels medium-ish, well carbonated, moves quickly on the palate without feeling filling.

An excellent Kellerbier. A real knockout from Jack's Abby!

Poured into a pils glass
L: Golden/burnt orange color, fair amount of turbidity, decent head retention and lace
S: biscuit, honey, slight touches of dough
T: repeat of the nose but with some fruity additions. They are faint and thus hard to characterize but reminds me of a “fruit” flavored bubblegum. Light wash of herbal hop bitterness on the finish, as well as a dry soda cracker maltiness.
F: damned smooth. Carbonation is definitely high but it’s not prickly, it’s soft. Body certainly is fuller but does not detract from drinkability.
O: I’m a lager fiend so this really tickles my fancy. I hope they continue with this cuz I’m a fan. Sort of a best of both worlds beer. Light refreshing and clean, highly drinkable, yet provides some robustness in flavor and body.

Pours a cloudy orange with a well retained two inch creamy white head that left a lot of lacing. Smells and tastes of sweet malts, mild hops (some lemon and lemon peel), lightly toasted bread. Light bodied, medium carbonation, virtually no bitterness, clean, crisp and very refreshing. Simple and very well done.

I loved how evocative this was of the classic Pennsylvania-German lager styles I used to guzzle as a teenager.
Sweet, eminently quaffable and although I normally drink from a Spiegelglau, I paired this with an excellent insulated stainless pint made by Stanley. I highly recommend it for this style as it kept every sip cold and delicious. Not overly complex, and a pleasant change from my usual NEIPA's I have been obsessed with. It has a nice slightly pulpy mouthfeel and developed a very fine head. The 20 ibu level is barely noticeable, overall the hops are very low profile and the extra percent of alcohol is masked well. Not a pretentious beer, this would be great with kielbasa and pierogie, or just a good pizza. Unpasteurized and unfiltered, like keg beer from a pitcher, but in the best possible way.

An easy pour from a 16-oz. can yields a finger of off-white froth with short retention and minimal lacing. Cloudy gold-straw color, rising bubbles. Light yellow straw in front of light.
Sweet yeast and toasted pale malt lead the smell, dough and a faint sour funk in reserve.
The taste begins semi-sweet and lightly bitter with faint fruit cocktail. The middle is bready and malty soft. The long finish is neutral with a moderate spicy hop bitterness/aftertaste.
Medium light bodied, plenty of reserved carbonation. Malty smooth, alcohol is hidden.
Bold sweet yeast in the smell and taste. Some sediment, decanting reduces the cloudiness.

Clear, golden appearance. Modest head leaves a series of spots on the glass.

Mild and grainy smell. No notable hop.

Creamy, pale malt flavoring which lasts throughout the tasting. Very light hop presence. This is true to the style. The mouthfeel is as one would expect. The aftertaste is brief but appropriate.
