Very Good
Luna LupulusLuna Lupulus
Notes: Collaboration with Kings County Brewers Collective

This Marzen style Keller lager was brewed with our buds at KCBC in Brooklyn under a full moon. A “Vollmondbier,” literally a full moon beer, brewed in honor of the pagan tradition. Luna Lupulus is brewed with New York-grown malt and hops, packing a rich, full flavor into this unique collaboration.

Spring marzen? Nice to see lagers being pumped out across the craft beer landscape, and it's especially nice having the ability to grab a fresh marzen- style beer in April. Scratches the marzen itch if it's still lingering from the fall and it's a solid lager in its own right. I had a tough time figuring out if this was a hopped-up lager or something else judging by the name.

Chilled, slightly cloudy orange hue capped by a pillow of frothy head. Looks great even in my filthy glass.

Aroma is equal parts doughy and floral. The latter component sticks out when I compare it to Oktoberfest brews.

Crisp, clean, light on the ABV but a good amount of heft on the palate - nice brew.

Fruity marmalade, toasty bread crust, malty grain, a little herbal touch

Canned 3/30/19
Pours a large foamy dense head with medium retention, just a bit of lacing though, very hazy medium orange slight amber-ish color

Nose starts a little yeasty, bread dough, wheat maybe and some grainy malts, light hops behind that, herbal grassy like, a little fruity, light cereal, fairly light in general but not a bad thing for the style

Taste more raw bread dough, cereal grain and quite doughy in general with a little yeast as well, wheat like dough, light hops with medium to lighter bitterness, and some herbal grassy hops but also a bit fruity, medium-drier finish but a touch sweet as well, lingering medium-light bitterness

Mouth is creamy like with wheat and suspended yeast thanks to Keller style but also a bit soft like lager, good medium-high carbonation

Overall pretty well done, very Keller style, much more so than many of the other "Keller" releases from Jack's, and nice lager in the middle, with young tasting beer, and good hop character, enjoyable

This deep amber can pour sports a 2 cm tan, foam cap and a woody malt aroma. The flavor is bready with some hay and a bit of resin. The finish is a bit sweet and not overly dry. This is a very enjoyable lager.

Can dated 3/20/19

Slightly hazy orange-amber , with three fingers of off-white foam.

Smell is bready malt, with brief hints of spiciness.

Taste is the lighter side of bran muffin, as in how said muffin smells, light spiciness*, as from coriander in a witbier, but less of it, as something vaguely fruity AND vegetal, such caramelized carrot, on the exposed parts of a carrot cake. Moderate bitterness, that lingers a bit, creating a counterpoint to the sweetness of the malt .
*It might be flavor + carbonation creating this impression.

Feel is on the light side of medium, slightly creamy, with very sharp, very fine, carbonation tingle throughout.

Overall, this one is a winner. Easy-drinking, and a complete pleasure. Nice to have this style available sometime other than Oktoberfest. Highly recommend it. :)
