Notes: As the weather warms and spring blooms, it feels like the perfect time to debut the next entry in our Keller Series -- Maibock! Our celebratory bock lager marks the changing of the seasons with a delicate hop character and strong yet smooth finish. Like all of our Kellerbiers, this golden lager is left unfiltered to maximize flavor and adhere to tradition.

Cloudy gold on the pour with some head but little lace. Aroma is strong -- toasted malt, honey and floral hops. Taste follows the aroma -- slightly sweet, hoppy and very drinkable. This is one of my favorites from a brewer that I like very much.

16 oz canned on 05/05/20.

OG 15.5 Plato // 6.5% ABV // 25 IBUs

Deep gold with excellent clarity and a big creamy white head. Toasted malt is king in this one, from the aroma to the flavor. Sweet and grainy with just enough grassy hops in there for some semblance of balance. Medium-full bodied.

Jack's Abby can do no wrong. Really nice Maibock here that I will purchase every Spring without fail.

Canned on 5/5/20

Very tasty lager - bready and slightly sweet malts on the nose and in the mouth, with a bit of a grassy hop bite coming through on the finish . . . just enough to set the hook for another sip without detracting from the malts. Medium-plus mouthfeel. Alcohol is hidden.

Jack's Abby rarely, if ever, disappoints in their Keller Series of beers and this latest - a full flavored Maibock - continues that tradition. Hopefully this will stay around for a few months as it definitely deserves multiple repurchases throughout the spring and early summer months. With this Maibock and the earlier Marzen Kellerbeer seasonal release, Jack's Abby has dominated my refrigerator this spring.

Classic style for Kellerbier, and Jack's Abby does these styles well so I'm excited for this one. Canned 5/05/20
Pours a med frothy bubbly head with med retention and nice messy lacing, mostly clear slight hazy (finally a little hazy for a Kellerbier), med golden-orange color

Nose really smells like Maibock and Kellerbier. nice grainy-sweet malt up front, blond and straw malts, light DMS corn notes which could be pilsner malt or youngness of Kellerbier, fair cereal grain and some sweetness, hint of fruity esters, faint herbal hop

Taste brings more of the same, big cereal grain out front, some grainy-sweet doughy straw pilsner malt as well, a bit of sweetness up front, into the DMS corn notes, fair Helles like notes but stronger and younger, touch of fruity esters, into some hops, med-lighter bitterness and little herbal hop flavor, grassy notes, and maybe a hint of slick diacetyl (OK for kellerbier)

Mouth is med bod, med-higher foamy carb, possibly touch of slick diacetyl, just a touch of warming alcohol

Overall as expected this is a great representation of the style, it a stronger an younger version of a Helles, the nice pilsner and grainy malts with some DMS corn, light fruity esters and hint of slick diacetyl from the youngess, almost as if it was served directly from a vat, although carbonation is a bit high for the style given that it's traditionally served from the vat, but still quite tasty and a bit on the stronger side for a German style

Daughter Caitlin swung by the Abby on Friday past and snagged me a 4-pack of 16oz cans, at $12 plus tax and deposit. Diving into them right now while laxing out in The 'Zebo....

Poured into a Willi Becher glass, it's a slightly cloudy, lovely, rich golden color. Has minimal carbo, and a 1/4" layer of foam. The head is off-white, creamy and rocky, slowly ebbing to a thin layer, with ok lacing. Aroma is a semisweet combo of bready and grainy malts, to style. Has a medium body with some prickly action, though it's not rough.

Flavor is like the aroma... breast, grainy and toasty malts, with some subtle caramel. Also has a hint of honey along with some light green apple and pear. Lightly floral hopping rounds out the dryish finish. A solid rendition, imo.. Prosit!!

Pours slightly cloudy, bright gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is honey and cereal grain. Medium-high carbonation, light bodied and sweet. An excellent lager. One of the cleanest domestic examples of the style that I have had. Could drink this all night.
