Style: American Pale Lager

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This lager harmoniously combines lager yeast fermentation and west coast IPA hops. Our India style Pale Lager is like a traditional IPA but with a twist - it’s fermented cold and aged for extended periods. A blend of classic American hops creates a huge tropical fruit and citrusy hop aroma. A dry finish accentuates the pleasant bitterness and hop profile. Hoponius Union uses locally grown dehulled spelt from MA.

Light & refreshing but with a bite, does a great job of melding the crisp body of a lager with some fruiter, semi-bitter hops. Floral aroma, tropical on the tongue (tangerine, melon, a little hibiscus and light cracker)

Citrusy and smooth, but still kept hoppy, bitter taste. Very interesting

I REALLY love this beer. I wasn't sure what to expect from an IPL vs. an IPA since the fermentation process is a bit different but it is so delicious. Was worried that the lager wouldn't pack a punch but it certainly does.

I think this is a benchmark beer for its style. Love the hop flavor it drinks like an IPA. Better than Harpoon IPA any day. Jack's Abby is the champion of Lagers and Hoponius Union is one that I buy by the 12 pack!

This beer was a pleasure to drink. The smell was absolutely incredible. Such fresh hints of citrus and piney hops are easily identifiable. The taste is just as good. Refreshing, with a great taste of almost a sweet spiciness. The aftertaste has notes of citrus and and the perfect level of carbonation render this a very crisp and delicious beer. Also this is extremely drinkable.

I feel as though I'm always approaching this beer the wrong way. I drink it expecting it to be an IPA, and then I'm disappointed, but I need to remember that it's not, and has its own character. It's got a kind a softness that you don't find in an IPA, plus there is a dryness at the end.

L - Slightly hazy, light golden color with a white head and medium carbonation. Decent lacing.
S - Hoppy, citrusy aroma.
T - Nice hoppy bitterness with certain sweetness.
F - Moderate mouthfeel. Dry, crisp finish.
O - This was a very refreshing hoppy beer. Really enjoyed it.
