Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.70%

Availability: Fall

Notes / Commercial Description:
Ancient timelines talk of dark days, plagued by hardships and Kingdom demands. When hope was all but lost, a legend emerged. A plumber. With copper pipes and an uncanny wit, he battled fierce foes and saw to the brewery’s opening. Our Octoberfest is malty, smooth and exceedingly drinkable. It is perfect to celebrate and honor today’s legends. We use locally grown wheat from MA, Munich malt and noble hops.

A huge white head graces this clear copper beauty of a beer. Takes five minutes for it to kick back to an ample cap, and it stays for the ride.

Light strength aroma which is a simple mix of sweet crackers, light caramel notes, and floral and spicy hops.

Not much to the taste either. That simple mix of the aroma, with some malt sweet that is really thin, and really disappointingly neither full of caramel goodness nor full of hop flavors. A light herbal spice that is barely there is all there is of the hop character.

Thin, highly carb.'ed, finish that is not clean nor tasty, sorta the mouthfeel you don't want your festbier to have.

The most disappointing beer I have tried from Jack's Abby, a brewery I love. Get Ayinger, Spaten, or any of the easy to get and much better festbiers available instead of this one.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. True to its name, the color is copperish with a foamy head. The taste is peppery during and after drinking, and slightly piney.

Pours a clear golden orange color with a 2-finger off-white head. The head is gone quickly and leaves just a touch of clingy lacing as it dissipates.

The aroma is light and pretty straightforward for the style. Cereal grains, with a touch of caramel and honey.

The flavor follows the nose. Lots of sweet bread and malts, with a hint of caramel.

The feel is medium-light bodied with lively carbonation. Pretty crisp, yet smooth and creamy. Finishes faintly dry.

Overall, a straightforward yet solid marzen. There's nothing that stands out about it but it's well done and highly drinkable.

A: The beer is crystal clear copper in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high dense off white head that died down, leaving a thin collar of bubbles around the edge and some lacing on the surface and down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel and toasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a little bit of associated sweetness from the malts.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The use of wheat makes this a little lighter in body compared to other beers in the style. I guess you can call this a sessionable Oktoberfest.

L: Really attractive beer. Bright burnt orange color with a nice head, crystal clear. Head retention is great.
S: Quite toast grains, almost a soapy like aroma. Biscuit as well.
T: What's good is it is sweet, but not overly so. Once again toasty malt, and finishes with a dry bit.
F: Light and refreshing, carbonation is just right for me.
O: Pretty on point marzen.
