Style: Märzen / Oktoberfest

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.70%

Availability: Fall

Notes / Commercial Description:
Ancient timelines talk of dark days, plagued by hardships and Kingdom demands. When hope was all but lost, a legend emerged. A plumber. With copper pipes and an uncanny wit, he battled fierce foes and saw to the brewery’s opening. Our Octoberfest is malty, smooth and exceedingly drinkable. It is perfect to celebrate and honor today’s legends. We use locally grown wheat from MA, Munich malt and noble hops.

A: The beer is crystal clear copper in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high dense off white head that died down, leaving a thin collar of bubbles around the edge and some lacing on the surface and down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel and toasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a little bit of associated sweetness from the malts.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The use of wheat makes this a little lighter in body compared to other beers in the style. I guess you can call this a sessionable Oktoberfest.

L: Really attractive beer. Bright burnt orange color with a nice head, crystal clear. Head retention is great.
S: Quite toast grains, almost a soapy like aroma. Biscuit as well.
T: What's good is it is sweet, but not overly so. Once again toasty malt, and finishes with a dry bit.
F: Light and refreshing, carbonation is just right for me.
O: Pretty on point marzen.

Serving: Bottle into pint
Served: 12 October

Somehow this review fell through the cracks, so I'm going to drudge whatever I can out of memory.

Appearance: Pours a deep amber color with, you guessed it, some copper tints. The beer is crowned by a cream colored head that was pretty soapy looking to start off and died down at an average rate. Nice and clear with some carbonation trickling up from the bottom.

Smell: Sweet caramel malts. Definitely sweet. A bit of earthy funk as well. A pinch of toast smell. Not the cleanest nose.

Taste: The flavor was predominantly caramel malt flavors with a somewhat abrasive assertion of the toast note I mentioned in the nose. Thankfully none of the earthiness seemed to come out on the palate.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium carbonation. Quaffable.

Overall: I put this one somewhere between Sierra Nevada's magnificent Oktoberfest and Sam Adams as far as US Oktoberfests go. The beer was not as sweet as Sam Adams, but not as clean as Sierra Nevada. I'd definitely pick up a few of these if you like Oktoberfestbiere.

L - Copper with two fingers of white head

S - Crisp lager aroma with caramel sweetness

T - Toffee, caramel, and spices from the noble hops with a green tea/mint finish. Crackery malts round it out.

F - Undercarbonated, but not too flat. Feels lighter than the abv would suggest, but still robust enough.

O - I expected more from a brewery that specializes in lagers, but this is still solid for the style with lots of flavor.

Not Bad.

Very Drinkable.

Typical - Average American Made Octoberfest Beer.

Some sips give an earthiness - dirty kind of taste that some would call 'organic'

Yesterday, I was drinking SPATEN OKTOBERFEST which is considerably better than Jack's Abby Copper - and I am normally not a big fan at all of SPATEN relative to all the other exceptional German beers - yes, I know SPATEN is one of the most popular German beers and yet my comment stands - even though I am not normally a SPATEN fan, I consider SPATEN OKTOBERFEST to be pretty damn good as of yesterday when I had it for the very first time - and YES - I find SPATEN OKTOBERFEST to be SUPERIOR to JACK ABBY Copper ...that being said, I am indeed sitting here enjoying this Jack Abby Copper - it's not bad...HENCE...Rating 3.5.

If you want THE ...and I mean "THE" ULTIMATE OKTOBERFEST BIER, then treat yourself RIGHT to some AYINGER WEIZENBOCK - now THAT is the OKTOBERFEST BIER that NO one is EVER going to Improve upon or OUT-Do - it is the ULTIMATE - THAT is my Personal Guarantee and Promise to All of You Reading this review - TREAT Yourself right !

L: Copper. Some head which immediately dissipates.

S: Bready, some caramel.

T: A nice subtle caramel. Your standard oktoberfest beer.

F: Smooth. Medium bodied, light to moderately carbonated.

O: I really liked this one from one of my favorite breweries.
