Style: American Double / Imperial Pilsner

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
This is an intensely hoppy and strong lager that we refer to as a Double India Pale Lager. Over four pounds of hops per BBL of New Zealand hops (Kiwi Hops) were used in progressively larger hop additions throughout the brewing process. Four kettle hop additions, whole leaf hops in the hop back, and multiple dry hop additions infuse an intense floral and citrusy aroma. No kiwifruit or kiwi birds were used in the production of this beer.

Look: Perfectly translucent pale golden body with a light frothy head. Pretty much ideal appearance for the style

Smell: A bounty of tropical fruit: pineapple, guava, mango, floral, somewhat dank. The nose is complex, but I'm not really loving it. High ABV comes through slightly.

Taste: Pineapple, guava, citrus, floral, booze. This is good, but my goodness is it boozy!

Feel: A bit overcarboned for my preference, but fine for the style. Resinous, but way too syurpy.

Overall: I swear I don't remember it being this boozy, but I'd still recommend it.

L - Dark yellow, hazy body, two fingers of white head

S - Crisp lager scent, bready, mangoes, grapefruit

T - Tropical juice flavor and acidity, fresh hop oils and juice, big hop bitterness, white wine finish

F - Full-bodied yet crisp and refreshing. Carbonation moves the syrupy, imperial body along

O - Another great lager from Jack's Abby.

L: Hazy gold, full creamy head
S: For lack of a better word, this beer is dank. Skunky herbal notes, with hints of tropical fruit, white wine and grapefruit peel
T: Tropical fruit, subtle citrus notes, white grapes. Impeccably well balanced
F: Incredibly smooth. Just soft enough to be unique, but is backed by a prickly carb. No booziness
O: This beer really lives up to the hype for me. I really like JA, but this one blows the rest of their portfolio away in my opinion.

Bottle dated 11/2/15; drank in a teku glass on 11/8/15; recently read that Kiwi Rising changes its hop bill every year in relation to what Jack's can purchase; I have had danker versions (which I have preferred more) but this is a consistently great beer that I look forward to every year

Pours a beautiful golden hue with slight haze and lecherous off white head. Intoxicating aroma of banana, guava, and citrus. If it was any stronger, I would literally be in heaven. Tastes of dank bitterness, some citrus, and a little bit of banana/guava. The finish is tongue smacking resin. The mouthfeel on Kiwi is absolutely incredible. I wish this was a year round beer and it is my favorite lager.
