Brew pours a dark black with almost purplish highlights, topped by a sizable dark tan head. Great retention and nice lacing.

Bourbon character is a bit strong on the aroma, but simultaneously thin, if that makes sense. Quite a bit of coconut and vanilla. Touch of chocolate from the malts in the background, and some banana from the yeast.

Flavor is much more balanced and representative of the base brew. If regular Framinghammer is a boozy chocolate banana smoothie, then this is a barrel aged chocolate banana smoothie. Quite a bit of roast, especially lingering on the aftertaste as a long, wet, bitter finish.

Thick, lively, full mouthfeel, albeit a touch thinner than regular Framinghammer, and carrying more heat. Very nice feel for the style, although the alcohol shows a little crudely for 10%. A sweet kiss of chocolate on the lips from the lingering finish.

Framinghammer is a fantastic Baltic Porter, deservedly mentioned alongside Founders Imperial Stout. The barrel treatment raises it to another level, and while not quite at BCBS level, I can find very little reason for complaint.

16oz. capped bottle into a Cigar City snifter. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a luscious, 2 finger light mocha colored head with great retention. Beer is pitch black. Lacing is thick and layered with good cling. An outstanding looking beer.

Nose is chocolate, molasses and booze. Some light cocoa powder, roast and smoke too. Very mellow. Tickles the nose.

Opens chocolate, molasses, brown sugar and booze. Very sweet with some roast, liquorice and smoke in the middle. Sweet coca cola and more roasted malt at the finish. Boozy, sticky aftertaste. Solid.

Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Smooth and slightly hot in the mouth and goes down warm and rich. Finishes messy with a long, lingering, sticky aftertaste. Solid.

Honestly, I thought there'd be a bit more to this beer. Slightly disappointing but its fun to compare to the rest of the variants.

Look: Deep brown with hints of red. Pours with a HUGE 3+ finger creamy tan head that dies down leaving an uneven coating of foam on the surface of the beer and some lacing on the sides of the glass.

Smell: Rich aroma of chocolate, coffee and whiskey. Delicious.

Taste: Starts off with a sweet coffee flavor that progresses to a slightly bitter whiskey flavor and ends with a mild chocolate finish. Rich and delicious, though mildly boozy.

Feel: Medium body. Rich, velvety smooth feel. Perfect.

Overall: An awesome beer. Full of flavor, looks and smells great, smooth. I definitely hope to drink this again!
