True Story! Running a brewery can be "bock" breaking. It's all worthwhile when you have the opportunity to share beer like this. Our Maibock/Helles Bock is deep golden in color with an intense malty almost grape like aroma and flavor. A light noble hop character balances the smooth sweet finish. A long lagering time makes this beer exceptionally drinkable for its strength. Don't be fooled by its light color.

From the can, it pours a golden amber with a larger white head that does last a bit. In the nose, it is clean and malty. In the mouth, it is smooth, creamy and lightly malty, not what I would expect from a Maibock(of course it might be my tastebuds today), but pretty good overall. Nice and recommended!

First of all, probably the best beer name I've ever heard. I'm a big Jack's Abbey fan based on the 4-5 beers I've had from them. They are always solid, well made, and very reasonably priced beers. This beer was really tasty. I don't have much Maibock experience since no one seems to make them but I really enjoyed it. Good full flavor with plenty of bite and even a touch of sweetness. yb

16 oz can, canned on 4/29/19.

Deep gold in color with a slight haze to it. A large, fluffy white head eventually settles down to a thin layer of foam.

Big, grainy and cereal aroma. Just enough lemony floral hops in there for balance. Maybe a hint of DMS.

Deep malt flavor. Heavy on the grains, as a bock should be. It's sweet but has enough hop bitterness to keep it from becoming too much so. Medium-full bodied. Very smooth.

This is a very good Helles Bock, all around. Firm malts, ample bitterness, strong yet smooth. A nice beer for the change of seasons, but a little heavy for repeatable summer drinking.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has some fine particulates floating in suspension. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of green grapes are present in the nose along with faint hints of floral and grassy hops.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of green grapes along with underlying notes of breads and pale malts.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and somewhat chewy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. The beer also coats your mouth.
O: I really enjoyed the chewiness and mouth-coating qualities of this beer's mouthfeel. I thought that the aromas and flavors of green grapes were very unique for the style and shared some semblance to a Kölsch.

Pours a slightly hazy golden with nice white head that lasts for a good while. Smell is bready malts with a slight tang of tart apples. Taste is not as malty as I expected, but more rounded, restrained bitterness, and does finish with an almost fruity tang and sourdough flavor. Medium bodied and smooth. The 6.5% abv is perceived as a bit of sharpness on the finish.

Overall I quite like this. Seems well made, but I prefer the flavor of their House Lager.

An average pour from a 16-oz. can (4/29/19) yields a finger of creamy off-white foam with long retention and arches of sliding lace. Hazy translucent golden-straw color, orange-straw in front of light. Strong smell of bready yeast, sweet malt and mild hops. A rich taste of toasted malt is welcomed as a bitter hop bite increases. Average bitterness and a mild juicy sweetness of melon, pineapple and faint citrus. Medium rich body, average carbonation, alcohol is masked. Another winner from the Kellerbier series.

From a 16 oz can purchased at Beer Culture in NYC, can date 5/19. Pretty close to a perfect Maibock. Big malty flavor with some grape tones and delicious breads malt. Head dissipates quickly, but great carbonation and sticky lacing persist. I enjoy these seasonal brews, and there aren’t all that many, but this is truly near perfection.

Poured from a 16 oz can into the test glass.
A - Slightly hazy, honey color, near perfect carbonation feeds a 1/2" white cap.
S - Sweet malts, a bit of earthy hops, excellent cracker, cereal in there as well
T - Follows the nose quite well, add a touch of grassy, earthy, hint of lemon grass.
M - Light to medium on the palate, semi sweet throughout, excellent finish
O - A very good Maibock example, malty enough but avoids the sweet side. nice linger.
