500 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Clear golden orange. Nice white head and surface wisps. Well retained.

Smell - Citrus hops and a little bit of a diaper aroma. Clean diaper, but weird. Some malt.

Taste - Better. Hoppy. Citrus and more pine comes out. Clean malt. Bitterness and oily hop resins linger in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Closer to medium heavy. Medium carbonation.

Overall - Decent. Smells kinda bad, but redeems itself.

Served in a glass chalice.

Bottled 3/28/13

Medium amber, orange color, fairly hazy with a huge white foamy head. Aroma is of citrus, piney hops, and some floral aspects as well. Taste-wise there’s a lot of tropical stuff going on here, some orange and other really bright flavors. The piney notes are not as pronounced as the smell suggested. The IPL finishes really nicely - clean and dry on the palate. As I drink, there isn’t much lacing but the head retention is good. Unfortunately the carbonation level is kind of lacking – it seems a little bit flat. This is a good one, but I much preferred Jack’s Abbey’s Kiwi offering over this.

Appearance: 1 inch head, orange-gold in color, hazy, moderate carbonation

Smell: tropical fruits and piney hops

Taste: tropical fruits and piney hops

Mouthfeel: moderate carbonation, medium bodied, slightly bitter with some sweetness

Overall: Jack's Abbey is pretty hit and miss with me and while this is not a miss, it is not a hit either. The flavors are clean and fruity. Style wise it is fairly true, but it is just missing that wow factor that would make me want to get this again. Not a bad beer, just one I would most likely not get again either.

A- pours clear and bright golden color with an enormous creamy and foamy white head that retains long after the pour, leaving behind thick patches of lace

S- lots of fruity notes with a bit of mango and papaya, some citrus hop with lemon zest, a bit of crackery malt and hemp

T- tropical fruity notes lead to citrus and pine resin, hop profile is huge mid-palate with sweet mango and grassy hop, long fruity citrus linger on the palate with just enough malt to contain the huge hops

M- medium body with lively carbonation, creamy mouthfeel leads to a clean, crisp and refreshing mouthfeel

O- loaded with hops and high ABV, but super crisp and refreshing with high drinkability. The hop punch of a DIPA with the crispness of a pilsner.

I picked up a couple bottles of this at the brewery.

Poured into a Duvel glass, the appearance is a light golden color, a finger of a white colored head. Its` nose has grapefruit, sourdough bread, other tropical fruit too. Sipping on this offering from JA and I taste earthy hops, pineapple, grapefruit, some pine. This is a very nice imperial pilsner. Mouthfeel is medium, a bit chewy, small amount of bitterness in the finish. I was happy to get some of this and certainly satisfied after trying it.
