This beer pours a hazy golden yellow color with a 1.5 finger creamy white head. Retention is moderate and there are some sticky spots of lacing left on the glass.

Smell is bright and hoppy. Mango, pineapple, melon, citrus and a touch of peppery spice. There is a bit of bready malt flavor and lager yeast that come out as the beer warms.

Taste is the same. Starts off fruity and juicy, but finishes clean and dry with the breast malts taking over.

Feel is medium, well carbonated and slightly resinous up until the dry finish.

Overall this is a very good beer. It is obviously very very hoppy, but unlike some other beers in this category (such as Peak Organic Super Fresh) it actually has enough malt presence and yeast flavor to remind you that is a lager and not an IPA.

Pours a clear bright gold, nice foamy white head with a good amount of lacing. Smells clean. Seriously! Smells of clean fruity and mild crisp malt which transcends through aroma and feel. So easy to drink. Bright, flavorful without being obnoxious, clean, crisp, and even balanced somehow despite its 100 ibu. I could drink this every day. Cheers!

Canned 04/03. Clear golden pour with intensely sticky finger of white. Light fruits and a hint of spice on the nose belying the 100 IBUs. Flavor is just fantastic. Definitely a hop bomb most of the journey through the sip, but offset by the lightness and bready malt flavor. Finish is very clean for as bitter as this gets mid-sip. Another really solid offering from Jack's.

Look: Deep yellow, hint of orange. Clear. Great, persistent lacing.

Smell: Pear, green apple, white grape. Reminds me of fresh Dogfish Head 60min.

Taste: Follows nose, plus some resiny sweetness. Malt profile is balanced to suit it. Very little alcohol detected.

Feel: Nothing jumps out, which is good. Thickness is a touch lighter than you'd expect for a similar ale. I'd say medium
to medium-light. Carb is refreshing but not overly soft, which is fine for a lager.

Overall: JA really is top notch with lPLs and DIPLs. Always a nice experience to compare with their ale counterparts.

16 0z tallboy can > imperial pint glass 100 ibu 8% abv. Unfiltered Unpasteurized

A practically clear white hazy gold color. Excellent carbonation with a rocky, seafoam style cap to prove it. Sloooow dissipation. Plenty of lace. Big lace!

A huge hoppy nose! Wet-hop like power, major earthy tones, sour fruit, pineapple, herbal and spicy, a very excellent and bold hop smell. The lager yeast adds a very wonderful sour-earthy funk and baked wheat bread effect that really sets this apart. As much as I'm tired of DIPA...the DIPL seems pretty exciting.

The flavor is simply awesome. The balance between some mega hoppy flavor's and bold lager is as perfect as I could imagine. Ultra dry and crispy bite lends itself to big earthy notes like crispy dry wheat and corn. The lager edge gives a baked bread and herbs effect. The malt has amazing depth of charecter, bready and wildly crisp. I love how subtle the 100 ibu's are, never do the hops get bitter, dry and earthy for sure but never bitter. The hops stay in touch with the earthy tones mostly, herbal and mildly spicy effect with subtle pineapple and light tropical fruits, but mostly dominated by classic earthy, old world tasting hops. Some sour citrus and tangy fruity hop flavor's pop out more as the liquid warms. I'm finding it very hard to believe this is 8% abv. It's insanely....no, dangerously sessionable for such a big hoppy lager. Once again, I'm amazed by the balance of the dominant flavor's and depth of the various subtle one's.

The feel, I touched on briefly, but it's very crisp, light to medium feel, full and lush finish, jazzy till the end. I was expectinng a much "heavier" feel.

If this was a DIPA I would rank it among the Heady Toppers, Sip of Sunshine and Green's level of quality. As a DIPL...it's practically in it's own league! High grade stuff.

On-draught @ Milk and Hops Chelsea.

Everything an IPL should be, though hop selection could be more interesting and a lighter more refreshing body would be ideal.
