Was on a trip to Boston and decided to stop by Jack's Abby Brewing in Framingham. I had really enjoyed the Framinghammer Baltic Porter (and derivatives) and thought it would be fun. It is a short hike from Boston, maybe 30 to 40 minutes by car depending on the time of day. Note, Framingham is famous for the Framingham Heart Study, which was instrumental in developing the contemporary medical approach to the treatment of coronary artery disease and other heart problems.

One enters at a decent sized, retail area, with cooler cabinets of canned and bottles beers, as well as souvenirs, but the serving floor is a much larger open, Brauhaus style space with a variety of different seating arrangements. In addition to bar height common seating areas, there were quite a number of more booth style, semi-private spaces. I went on a Tuesday night and had no difficulty getting seating (although there were lots of people there).

The menu had a nice selection of food, not the usual "pub grub." The other breweries I have visited did not actually serve food. I ordered the Bratwurst, which came with sauerkraut and spaetzl (which was all excellent). I focused on beer offerings exclusive to the serving area and enjoyed two of the three. Full disclosure, my server was pretty disinterested: when I asked what was exclusive to the site, he pointed to something that was not, in fact, but will acknowledge he seemed a bit harried.

Overall, it was a great experience and, frankly, I wish there were one such closer to my home. If you are in the area, do consider a visit.

Beer Halls: why aren't there more of you?!? Brewers that know what they're doing. A kitchen with a simple menu that is well executed. Just a happy place all around.

This might be one of the better breweries I've been to. Its a great place to go with the family, get some food and great beer. The food was good enough to go to even without great beer. You also have their Springdale tap room right next door which opens up a lot more options. They had a great selection of beers that can appeal to a wide audience, especially since they also offer a selection of Springdale beers in the beer hall.

Stopped in on the way home , big place!
The feel is post industrial, with a central area for family style sitting.
Waitstaff rocks, great beer line up. the food offerings are diverse and well priced. We shared a flatbread and then a slate all excellent.
The beer offerings are also well priced, the brewery specials are worth checking out.
Overall the value and the breath of offerings are excellent. We will be re-visiting
Cheers

Keeping Lagers alive! Great tap selection. Killer retail shop and an amazing German inspired open seating beer hall. Grab a beer and some food and make new friends.

Great vibes just because it's a proper beer hall. Hard to find those in the States, especially New England. Compared to the old spot, this is gigantic. Store to buy growlers/bottles/cans and merch is separate from the draft beer and food with views of the barrel room. Solid crowd on a Wednesday evening so I can imagine it gets fun (or rowdy) on weekends. Not the friendliest staff but I don't expect smiles and warmth in Framingham.
