Our unfiltered wheat beer borders on an Imperial Hefeweizen with a big citrus note from the wheat used in our recipe. Banana flavor comes in during the fermentation. Its refreshing quality means it's perfect for taming a hot summer day or a spicy meal.

Bottle courtesy of match1112. Thanks, Matt!

It pours a hazy/cloudy orange with a 2 finger head of foam. Since I pulled it straight from the fridge, I'm going to wait a while until it warms up a bit.

It smells fruity, light banana and some citrus, some clove, big nose of wheat, small nuance of some sweetness. I like the aromas and anticipate liking the taste.

It has very nice fruity flavours per the smell, wheat, light on the cloves, very smooth drinking while not being boring at all. This is a very well made Hefeweizen that will be a joy to sip til the bottle runs dry.

Aroma is wheat, spices, fruit bubble gum and slightly earthy. The flavor is wheat, citrus/fruit, mild sweetness/bubblegum and a long and tart finish.

Appearance: Clear, dark orange color. Nice foamy, white head, but dies down rather quickly. Not the best lacing left on the glass.

Smell: Wheat and clove (I think) scent.

Taste: Wheat characteristic present. Trace notes of citrus. Somewhat bitter, but refreshing beer. Heavier body than a normal Hefeweizen.

Overall: Very good Hefe. Heavier than the normal Hefe, but just as good.

Serving type: bottle poured into a Hefeweizen glass.

Bottle (2012)

Thanks, match1112!

A near clear orange with a thick, creamy, off-white head. Leaves messy lines of stick down the glass.

A bit of banana and bubble gum in the aroma, along with some very mild, complementary wheat. Nice and appropriate for the style.

Exceptionally drinkable with nice banana and a bit of bubble gum character, wheat bread and low bitterness. Clean, crisp, and refreshing.

Medium bodied with high carbonation.

Very tasty hefeweizen. Simple but exceptionally enjoyable.

Neighbor brought this from Down-state. The beer poured a cloudy yellowish orange body with a white head that leaves a lacing. The smell was rather faint with evidence of bananna and clove. The taste follows up with the nose rather well. The mouthfeel has a nice medium creamy feel and good carbonation, pretty typical for the style i'd say. Overall this is a really nice beer from a new company, apparently they know what they're doing.

Finally released in the local market in bottles, Springfield Wheat is already building a strong local reputation.

Hazy sunset orange pour, thin layer of creamy white foam that leaves behind concentric rings of lace. After a few minutes the head dissipates to a ring.

Orange and banana creamsicle aroma, soft and wheaty feel.

Flavors are similar, fruity and smooth, signature banana and light citrus, not overly sweet like some hefes. Medium bodied, mellow carb, very smooth and drinkable. Very versatile, it appeals to a wide audience and pairs well with food. Priced a bit high, sixers of this would be great in the summertime.

picked up earlier today at the farmers market. the brewer was behind the table talking to everyone and selling his beer, glasses and shirts. price is kinda steep at ten dollars a bomber but just starting out that's kinda expected. anyway on with the review. appearance is real typical for a hefeweizen. a cloudy yellowish orange body with a bright white three finger head that leaves clumpy sticky lacing. eventually the head settles to a quarter inch of sudsy foam that lasts as long as the beer does. quite impressive. the nose is rather faint. i pick up on notes of wheat, bananna and clove. taste follows up with the nose rather well. it's not overpowering on the bananna and clove like most hefe's are but they are there, less is more for me. has a strong wheat body with a nice sharp finish, no real hop presence noticed. mouthfeel has a nice medium creamy feel and good carbonation, pretty typical for the style i'd say. overall this is a really nice beer from a new company, apparently they know what they're doing. for me i like this one more than most other hefe's, not because i'm a homer, but because of the toned down bananna and clove. like i said in my review earlier, you can tell that they're there but they're not overpowering. just a nice clean tasting beer where you can taste all the ingredients, not just the hefe.
