22oz bomber, no date. had no idea what type of beer this was when I bought it, if i had to guess blindly id have said oatmeal stout.

Black look, smell is coffee, sweet malt, rubbing alcohol. taste is heavy on roast. there's some oats and hops in there, but it's over-powered by the roastiness. char, cocoa, bitter black coffee.

Tasty, but a little one-note with the charred flavor. And expensive, too, for what it is.

Pitch black body allows absolutely no light to pierce its walls. Medium brown head, does not hang around long but leaves a few traces of lacing behind. Glancing down at this brew reveals a slow swirling galaxy - fun to watch.

Roasted coffee and rich caramel dominate the aromascape. English toffee, s'mores, and cocoa powder help give some additional character.

Surprisingly bitter upfront - I don't remember this. Bitter chocolate and coffee right upfront followed by a mild sweetness. Smoked character adds a nice touch. Definitely gets better as the temperature inches up. Alcohol is a bit noticeable.

A very nice, medium bodied beer. Smooth with a semi-sweet finish.

I had this beer last year and absolutely adored it... this time around, I found it a bit lacking but still very, very good. I question this particular bottle's age and plan on re-reviewing the first chance I get my hands on another bottle of this one.

22oz bottle into my Sam Smith pub nonic.

A: Dark, opaque black body, fairly viscous pour, with lots of tan head and rings of lacing on the glass.

S: Big bakers chocolate, sweetened and unsweetened cocoa, lots of roasted barley and even some char; oats, a big dose of espresso beans, with a hint of smoke.

T: Dark, deeply roasted malt backbone to this one, with char and burnt flavors, oats, lots of barley and coffee beans, bitterness, some bittersweet dark chocolate. Dry finish, alcohol esters are nearly invisible, maybe a touch of a hoppy bitterness on the finish?

MF: Creamy and viscous body, not quite 'full', with a dry & bitter finish.

O: Really nice stout, almost more of an oatmeal stout than an export stout. Tasty and roasty.
