A- pours a golden lemon color with a 1 finger bone white head. Delicate ring lingers around the edge. Cloudy in appearance.

S- Lots of malted wheat take over the nose. Bright fruits of pears more than the traditional clove. Ripe aroma.

T- Grainy wheat malt. It consumes the palate and renders the remaining flavors mild and bland. Faint banana, but nothing more than a hint before it goes away.

M- Body is light and welcoming on a hot day. Solid for the style.

O- Quite disappointing for the most part. I have had multiple brews from Steel Toe and based on previous results, I expected more. Just not a lot of distinct and bold flavors going on here.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Weizen glass.

Appearance: Cloudy yellow-orange with large white head; not quite as billowy as the authentic German Hefes.

Smell: Dry, crisp wheat, some clove and just a touch of banana. Actually, as it warms, the sweet banana becomes more pronounced.

Taste: Very fresh tasting wheat is the highlight here; not sure if I am unused to drinking such a fresh Hefe or if there is another reason the wheat is so good. Not the yeastiest Hefe, at least not when really cold, with light clove and very little banana. But, as it warms, the banana and clove climb in prominence. Maybe a hint of Noble hops at the finish, along with the clove.

Feel: Medium bodied, with a nice level of creaminess. Moderate carbonation, dry finish.

Overall: Very solid Hefeweizen that shows that Steel Toe can move beyond American-style Ales. Drinking this too cold makes it seem more like an American Wheat (albeit a damn good one), but that wonderful Hefe yeast becomes apparent as it warms.

Poured from 22 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and very hazy pale golden orange with lots of rising bubbles. Solid three fingers of off white head with decent retention. Leaves a good amount of lacing around the glass.

Smell: Lots of wheat and yeast that you expect from the style. Bready pale malts with hints of biscuit and cracker. Big hints of banana, clove, and hay. Also some hints of citrus lemon and orange. Light earthy hops in the background. An ester driven but fairly dry aroma.

Taste: Big taste of yeast and wheat grains up front. Pale malts with notes of bready biscuit and cracker. Notes of banana, clove, bubblegum, and husk. Big citrus presence with a quite noticeable taste of lemon zest and orange. Also picking up some coriander spices. Almost tastes like a summer wheat ale as much as a Hefeweizen. Somewhat tart and sweet tasting.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, creamy, and very smooth. Starts sweet and tart but finishes fairly dry.

Overall: A pretty good wheat beer here. A little different interpretation of the Hefeweizen style as the citrus is noticeable stronger. Tastes pretty good anyways. Solid easy drinker.

Had a pint at Republic on 7 Corners. Huh, reminds me of the old Summit Hefe (which I really enjoyed), as it's a crisp, spicy wheat beer with no fruity character. The clove almost tastes singed, and the dry toasty wheat and barley provide a great balance to the phenol spices. It's eas-drinking and quite refreshing on a hot day. Check it out.

An attractive looking hefe after the pour. Cloudy yet bright yellow with a massive head that had excellant retention. The head never really settles but remains a finger high. A lot of lacing is left down the glass.

The aroma is on the estery side but the yeast did not give a lot of aroma. Banana and bubblegum from the yeast but the biggest contributor is the wheat malt.

A lot of wheat flavor with mild yeast flavor. Yeast esters add some flavor but not enough in my opinion. Rather bland and just better than average.

Carbonation is off. Bought the growler a few hours earlier so that is not it. Just feels so lifeless.

Not bad but just above average. Not as refreshing as I had hope on this hot day. Probably ranks number 5 or 6 in MN brewed hefeweizens.

Poured from the bottle into a curved wheat ale glass.

Deep orange apricot body, with a good opaque and dark brown to yellow edge. Head is fluffy and creamy white with a simple top of two fingers, and a somewhat rich looking foam. Settles to a half finger puck ready for consumption. Looks like an inviting hefe.

A real solid classic hefe nose. Nice hints of bubblegum softness, and a bit of lemon. Clove and some phenolic brown spice character, and wheat density malt coming up. Just about bang on.

Palate unfortunately lacks a little in flavor and body. Slightly wet, with a faint flattened mineral carbonation a bit, and a quick fleeting finish. Missing a lot of the hinted density of chewy malt that is on the nose. Mild lemon, but with no dough or bakery quality. Kind of a seltzery palate as well, with a little bit of banana warmth slightly.

Overall it comes off a little disappointing, but still decent.

Pours a nice looking pale honey gold - hazy, clearly unfiltered, topped with a three finger mound of creamy white froth. Beautiful beer.

Admittedly, my palate is a bit tainted so I won't get into too much detail...

On the nose there are breakfast cereals, malted wheat, slight honey, smells very clean / crisp.

Very refreshing. Faded wheat, cereal, pale fruits - banana, finishes very clean.

At 4 dollars a bomber, I'll happily drink this all day.

Picked up a growler at the brewery's two-year birthday party!

Look - hazy yellow color, decent head (that dissipates quickly) and limited lacing

Smell - strong banana notes, light toast smell

Taste - citrus and banana flavors, some sweet maltiness, yeasty flavors

Feel - smooth start, balanced carbonation, medium bodied, limited trailing bitterness

Overall - very tasty hefeweizen
