Because Red Tail was my first craft beer, I found this to be the best red ale ever - on tap at the Mad River.

A: Big creamy and thick tan head with lasting trail of lace. Deep brown- red california body.

S: Aroma of hops and caramel malt. balance of pungent hops and sweet caramel.

T: Follows smell but explodes with flavor. Huge arc of malt, caramel on top of chocolate and roasted fruit: pear, grapefruit and building hops then a jammy marmelade finish.

F: Just right body to carry the lovely flavor arc.

Must try!

12 Oz bottle poured into pint glass
A: light brown/auburn with 1/2 in. cream colored head. Minimal lacing.
S: mostly malt. Carmel and roasted malts
T: sweet, roasty malt flavor first. Gently bitterness in aftertaste
M: medium to full bodied. Moderately carbonated.
O: tasty red. More malt than hops. Overall a good beer.

This is another one of those that was hard to finish. A little bit of red ale, a little bit of lager taste. Just all over the place, and very poorly balanced. I had better things in the fridge, so down the drain this went. I would steer clear of this.
