On draught at Bailey's, Occidental's Maibock is a clear gold with a small white head leaving light foamy lace.

Smells is faintly doughy, a hint of lime.

Taste is light, fairly clean. A little grainy, a touch of vanilla. Some ethanol, fusels. Faintly herbal.

Mouthfeel is light, dry.

Drinkability is okay. It's certainly a light bodied spring bock, but there's not much character here beyond the alcohol. Reminds me of those strong Scandinavian lagers, but presumably cleaner and less hang-over prone (although this 10 oz glass is enough for me).

Amber in color, like a dirty penny, with creamy white head. Grainy sweetness in the aroma with a touch of fruity esters, no distinct hop aroma, but clean. More grain sweetness in the front which dries up and leaves an herbal hop flavor on the tongue with mild spiciness and a strong alcohol flavor. The body is medium and carbonation is moderate, drinks smooth. Alcohol flavor is too strong, which leaves an uncomfortable warming in the finish.
