Poured from a 33 cl bottle bought in Madrid. "Rubia" is "Blond" in Spanish. The La Cibeles website says this is a very pale ale brewed with several varieties of US and European hops, with Cascade being primary.

A - Medium straw color, slightly hazy with some suspended particles, even though I poured carefully and avoided the bottle sediment. Head is pure white; initially 1.5 cm thick, then quickly faded to a thin, broken sheet.

S - Aroma is definitely dominated by citrusy hops, but it is not overly fresh and clean. I do detect Cascade, but the hops picture is a bit muddled, with some earthy hop aromas as well. Malt is barely detectable as a grain-like note at the end.

T - Not a smooth and drinkable blond ale. The hops flavor hits in a harsh way; I think the Cascade combined with a noble hop has created a slightly jarring flavor combination. The only malt is a late note of grain.

M - Body is thin. Carbonation is prickly and sharp. Hops bitterness is astringent and almost soap-like. No alcohol notes.

O - A decent attempt at an American Blond, but the overall impression is harsh and the tastes and aromas are a bit jumbled. It's not the simple, soft, drinkable beer I expect for a blond ale.

330 ml. bottle. Hazy golden color with a lot of floaties. Normal head, no retention. Smell is very week, but there's maybe some citrus and some peach or apricots, alongside flowers and herbs. Rough palate, taste of apricots, peaches and some citrus. Not bad, but there's nothing special here. I've tried some handcrafted spanish beer and, with many of them, I just keep thinking that if you're gonna make your own handcrafted beer, why do you want to make one that is like a mass market one and not something different. That's my opinion.

From Hipercor. In Ikea's pint glas. Watching Sons of Anarchy 1x08. Watery, soft, not much taste here, just a bit.
