The best beer from 2015 EBF.

The beer flows of rich chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, roasted coffee. All these flavors are surrounded by a chocolate sweetness along with that bourbon quality. Extremely well integrated, a rich flavor and absurdly oily and thick mouthfeel.

Poured out black with little head on top. The smell was decent but not as stunning as I was kind of hoping for. The taste however kind of brings this beer back to life. Lots of good coffee flavors in there. The feel is pretty slick, good amount of body. Overall it's a solid beer, enjoyed it.

What a tremendous barrel-aged stout. This is actually my least favorite of the three ANTEAD variants and it still blew me away. I hope this one is released again in 2015.

Bottle shared by myself tonight, received in a trade.

Pours a dark murky opaque black, pours out like motor oil, with no head or lacing, unless you really swirled it.

This smells bomb. Big nutty coffee, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt, and sweet bourbon. Can't wait to dig into this guy.

Just amazing. The coffee and the bourbon are fairly perfectly integrated. The bourbon, along with the big oak and vanilla flavors, show off a big, beefy barrel presence, making the beer quite sweet, but not overly so. There's still a bit of roasted malt to keep everything in check. Rich, decadent, and makes you happy to be alive.

This has a great feel, so thick, fudgey, creamy and rich, with a lower amount of carbonation, and a huge body.

This is amazing. Now I need to get the rest of the set.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Inky black. Stains the glass. Small khaki head. Thin collar.

Smell - Coffee. Sharp coffee. Chocolate. Molasses. Bourbon and vanilla.

Taste - Rich coffee. Less sharp than the aroma at first. Bourbon. Oak. Fudgy chocolate. Bitter coffee finish.

Mouthfeel - Heavy. Boozy. Medium carbonation.

Overall - The coffee is tasty, but a touch too sharp for me. Detracts from the richness of the base beer.

Waxed 750 mL bottle.

Pours a viscous oily brown color, opaque, with a thin dark tan head. Nose of roasty, bitter coffee, slightly nutty, roasted malt, oak and trace vanilla sweetness. Silky smooth, medium thick body, despite coffee presence never turns overly roasty and only a mild presence of alcohol heat in the finish. Flavor is a major improvement over the base; milk chocolate, coffee with cream, light roast, honey, powdered chocolate, and coffee ice cream. Not as robust or complex as GI BCBCS, but that's not a knock. Could use a little more barrel, coffee, roast, or anything... but again the richness of the body and smoothness of the finish makes up for the shortcomings of the flavor for me.

From 06/07/14 notes. 750ml bottle poured into my Kane teku glass. Had right before ANTEAD Cocoa Nibs, liked this one better.

a - Pours a pitch black color with one inch of dark head and low to moderate carbonation evident. Looks great, less head and cabronation than the vanilla had.

s - Smells of dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, light vanilla, toasted malts, burnt malts, light toffee and caramel, light bourbon, and milk chocolate. Nose is very good, but coffee is not as strong as I would have liked. More coffee as it warms up, but still not a ton.

t - Tastes of milk chocolate, roasted malts, coffee , dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla, oak, light bourbon, toffee, cocoa, and toasted malts, light caramel. More coffee than the nose, especially as it warms up. Letting it warm up I think I like the taste a little better than the vanilla version, though they are close.

m - Medium body and low carbonation. Not super thick but heavier body than last year's version.

o - Overall I thought this was very good but not quite as good as the vanilla version. Well worth checking out and really looking forward to getting them again next year. I think of all 3 variations this one benefits the most from letting it warm up, to get more coffee out of it.
