Deep brown with ruby hues and a tan head that fades fast and leaves no lacing. Notes of bourbon, oak, over ripe dark fruit, vanilla, cocoa powder and wood. Heavy side of light feel, fizzes on the initial sip, smooths then finishes dry. As it warms the carbonation pulls out and the mouthfeel smooths a bit. This was good, not great. Well done Belgian strong ale but it gets lost a bit in the barrel aging. Interested to see how each year progresses.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Dark body, but not quite black. Medium khaki head. Thin collar.
Smell - Bourbon. Oak. Some dark fruits. Dark roasted malts and chocolate. Booze.
Taste - Sharp bourbon. Boozy. Oak. Some chocolate. A little bit of dark fruit, but that's the only thing that hearkens to a Belgian dark ale.
Mouthfeel - Boozy. Medium carbonation. Medium heavy.
Overall - Very tasty. Huge, boozy, bourbony, and sweet.
