8.4% imperial IPA brewed with El Dorado, Mandarina Bavaria and Lemon Drop hops in the kettle and El Dorado, Mandarina Bavaria and Mosaic in the dry hop. The blend of these hops creates tropical fruit, citrus and melon flavors that complements the dark fruit flavors from the small amount of high crystal malts we used in the mash.

Heavy on the fruit aroma. Amber in color with a light head on top. Not overly bitter which is a nice change up, medium carbonation and extremely refreshing.

Thanks to djrn2 for sharing this one with me. The beer poured out as a nice light amber color with a good head retention. The smell of the beer has a great hop aroma to it. The taste of the was nicely balanced, subtle malt sweetness with the hops kicking ass in the finish. The feel of the beer is smooth. Overall it was a damn good brew!

The citrus notes dominate over the hops. Very refreshing, especially for 8.4%. Pours amber with little head. Mouthfeel is good with decent body. Little detectable aroma. Good stuff.

Poured from a fresh growler fill. Golden amber color. Very nice head formation and lacing. Very fruity and floral aroma. Tangerine and mandarin orange. Lemon and orange zest. Lesser suggestions of melon and tropical fruit (guava, mango). Awesome, citrus-forward aroma.
Not excessively sweet like some DIPAs. In fact, I think this is pretty much right at the sweet spot between residual sugars and hop bitterness in a strong IPA. Just excellent balance. Finishes dry and bitter, as any good IPA should. Flavors of grapefruit and orange pith, with caramel malt well hidden by the prodigious hoppiness. Mouthfeel is soft and very pleasant. Holy crap, Kane is really on their game when it comes to IPAs. At the moment, Kane is the king of Jersey craft beer.

This reminds me of Hill Farmstead IPAs with being heavy on fruits and creamy mouthfeel. Far from the most bitter IPA/DIPA Kane has brewed, but it's a nice changeup for sure.

From 05/20/16 notes. 12 oz. glass on tap at Cloverleaf in NJ.
Pours a somewhat hazy brown orange with two inches of white head and mod carbonation evident. Sweet fruits but good, citrus, good floral hops, tropical notes. Medium body and low to mod carbonation. Very nice.

Growler purchased 5/20/16 at brewery and poured into Kane Belgian tulip glass.
L: 2F head with decent retention, leaves some thick lacing and a ring. Beer is a medium amber.
S: Lots of tropical fruit like mango and berry, with lemon and orange peel. Both El Dorado hop and the malt give an implied sweetness to the nose.
T: Mango and melon, in an interesting combination, up front (not bad, just a little different than expected). Citrus peels, especially lemon. Light malt, but neutral between sweet and sour. Little bitterness or alcohol.
F: Medium body, light to medium carbonation. A lot going on here, but well-balanced and constructed. Definitely something a little different, but true to the IPA style and certainly the best use of the melon flavor I have encountered to date.
O: Never pass up a Kane Hop Lab if you have the chance.
