Notes: Collaboration with Jackie O's Brewery, 13.8% rye imperial stout brewed with brown sugar, hand-toasted almonds, pumpkin and sunflower seeds that was aged in rye whiskey barrels for over a year. After being racked out of barrels, we conditioned the beer on coconut and granola. The final product is a rich, full-bodied and complex barrel-aged imperial stout with multiple layers of flavor.

Full-bodied, deep brown brew, strong nuttiness up front. Loved the complexity of this collaboration. My only beef was toward the end of the glass, the 13.8% abv became way too apparent. Had to knock it back a beg for that. Solid, initially delicious, disappointing end game for Shell Game.

Rich black pour with thin brown head. The smell has subtle chocolate and coconut notes. The taste has a bit of molasses flavor with some spicy Barrel notes. The feel is dense and think. Overall a very nice Imperial Stout.

The nice, fluffy full body has a substantially woody barrel presence paired with nutty, chocolate wafer with a hot but caramely exhale after the paper dry finish. It's like a chocolate cupcake, but more balanced than the pastry stouts I've been having recently--more mature, and more complex.

Poured from the bottle into a stout glass.
A: Deep dark brown almost black. Thick mocha head that subsided to a ring.
S: Whiskey, raisins, tiramisu, torrone. Coconut shows up in the nose when it warms.nn
T:. Sweet butterscotch and hazelnut up front. Coconut in the beginning but it fades off. Nthere is enough going on that it isn’t missed. Dark fruits like raisins and over ripe plums creep in. The rye barrel is slight but with a bite. It sweetens as it warms but never becomes too much. It feels Italian to me. I wish I had a cannoli or some pignoli cookies to go with this.
MF:. The rye is present but the alcohol is well hidden. Almost drinks too easy for 14 percent. The sweetness makes me want another sip.
O: Give Michael Kane a stout, a whiskey barrel and stuff to throw in it and you will get something great 9 out of 10 times. This is one of the great ones.

Bottle to snifter. Shared with DC.

LOOK: thick dark black. Small head. On retention. Weird globules at surface.
AROMA: I smelled an awesome waft when jostling the glass even though I was not even leaning towards the table.
TASTE: rye is apparent, almond and granola are there too. Very tasty and awesome.
FEEL: thick, super sticky.

A great collaboration. Gotta get some Jackie O's in NJ. So many flavors in here and they all work even though (and probably partly because) many are muted.

Pours pitch black, virtually impervious to light. So thick and syrupy, a pour from 16 inches yields a nominal mocha head. Oils from all the seeds create a slight oil slick on top. Smells so good. Lots of granola / roasted seeds initially, chocolate sauce, molasses, some coconut. Tastes delicious. Lots of granola / seeds lead into rich, creamy chocolate fudge, sweet molasses, dark brown sugar, faint coconut. Sweet but not cloying. Barrel aging brings all these flavors together and is prevalent rhroughout. Abv is pretty well hidden. Carbonation is perfect, lending to a creamy texture. Overall - wow, an amazing collab beer.
