A blend of two different Double Barrel-Aged Barleywines. The first Barleywine was aged in a Woodford Reserve Malt Whiskey barrel for over 20 months, then finished in a combination of Weller and Blanton Bourbon casks for close to a year. The second Barleywine was first aged in an Armagnac puncheon for close to two year, then finished in a blend of Heaven Hill Rye and Sazerac Rye casks. Each beer was cold-conditioned in stainless, and then blended together to create this Double Barrel-Aged Barleywine.

Thanks to @Roguer for kicking of the NBW thread and thanks to the Veterans for your self sacrifices! This beer is courtesy of @Mikexw as part of the Barleywine/Stout BIF#1 crazy train i have been part of for the past month! Mike has sent two mystery beers for the Barleywine and Stout styles, one being canned and one in a bottle. I have selected the can for today. Onto the review...
Upon popping the can that has been sitting in 69 degree room temps for the past two hours, i immediately got BBA Barleywine on the nose.
Beer poured murky brown with a nice tan head with the original pour - 4.25.
Nose is giving me notes of brown sugar, vanilla, and of course bourbon - 4.25.
Taste is a very large malt base that is giving notes of brown sugar, carmelized malts, some figs, vanilla, and of course a large dose of bourbon barrel treatment. Finishes with a citrusy hop bite and a belly warming with each sip that suggests i am dealing with a very strong beer here. This is incredibly well balanced - 4.5.
Mouthfeel comes across as medium to large bodied and very smooth - 4.25
Overall i really like this aggressively hopped and fresh barrel American Barleywine - 4.25!

Pours dark brown color with a one finger cocoa color silky head. Aroma is smooth and winy with leather and cherry notes. The flavor is so rich and complex- just amazing really. Up front you get the more fruit-forward notes of cherry and prune. By midtaste there are smooth chocolate notes that blend fantastically, mellow put in the finish. Wow! Mouthfeel is a bit boozy up front - nothing like a 15% beer, which is cool. Very soft and creamy that fades into a somewhat effervescent. I can see why this is a 100 rating beer. I will contribute to that

Pouring this into a tulip as the snifter is dirty... pours a dark brown with a very nice two fingers of mocha head. It has a sweet, molasses smell, raisins and chewy things. The taste follows the nose, a pleasant combination of fruit and barrel. Lots of things you could throw in there - chocolate, raisin cookies, maple, etc. Warming but not overwhelming. It's pretty full and smooth with little carbonation. Bit of a cherry or figgy finish. A shame you won't find this on shelves.
