Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Head High is our interpretation of an American-style India Pale Ale (IPA). This beer is all about the hops; we use a blend of five different varieties all grown in the Pacific Northwest. A small charge of Chinook and Columbus early in the boil adds a smooth bitterness. A majority of the hops are then added late in the kettle or post-fermentation to produce a beer that is heavy on hop flavor and aroma. The combination of Cascade, Centennial, Citra and Columbus give Head High a noticeable grapefruit flavor with aromas of citrus, tropical fruits and pine. Our house American ale yeast ferments to a dry finish that accentuates the use of imported Pilsner and lightly kilned crystal malt resulting in Head High’s straw color and crisp flavor.

Acquired via trade from tzieser so a big “Thank You” goes out to him. Poured from a 16oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains a nice fruity citrus sweetness, floral hops and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out sweet with a strong fruity citrus sweetness. Then a strong but not over-powering floral hops bitterness comes in. The malt character is hearty brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly hoppy.

M: Smooth and crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a solid IPA to drink for a long time.

Pours cloudy gold/yellow with massive foamy head and glue like lacing. Smells so good, citrus, hops, pine, floral notes. The taste is just fantastic, loads of hops but balanced with citrus and some soft sweetness, lots of pine and dryness on finish. This is a dam tasty IPA, loads of fresh flavors and leaves you wanting more.

Canned 8/3/17, poured into pub pint glass.

Slightly cloudy Dark orange with a thick 1.5 finger head that had good retention and ledt sticky lacing.

Nose is heavily dominated by grapefruit

Taste is a bit resinous at first, but grapefruit kicks in hard, with lemon zest, and a dry peppery finish

Feel is on the lighter end of medium bodied, carbonation is good.

Overall a solid west coast style IPA. Light and crisp, with hops that pack a heavy bitter punch.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a snifter. Purchased at the brewery a few days ago. Packaged 2 weeks ago.

Pours a golden orange lightly hazy body with a frothy white head that leaves thick lacing.

Aromas are muted light piney, resinous hops with citrus and malt. On the tongue is piney, citrusy, zesty hops sitting on a caramel, pale malt backbone that's lightly sweet. Medium body with medium carbonation.

Decent IPA, not a fruity or citrus bomb with more on the piney, dank, resinous sid.e
