look: 4.25 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Pours a cloudy light copper color with a huge fluffy off-white head. Leaves some sticky lacing as the head dissipates.

The aroma has loads of grapefruit right off the bat, followed by some pineapple and sugary sweet orange. The back end has a touch of onion and spice as well as some sweet caramel malt. Very complex aroma.

The flavor has a good amount of pineapple on the front, followed by some grapefruit and pine. Finishes with sweet bread and caramel.

The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A bit sticky. Leaves a nice coating around the mouth after each sip. Alcohol is extremely well hidden. Goes down very crisp.

Overall, a very good DIPA that is nicely balanced and easily drinkable despite the high ABV. Would love to see this in cans.

Tinged deep orange, light haze, with a big off white head and spotty lacing. Notes of red grapefruit, pine, light pineapple, under ripe mango and stone fruit grip the senses in aroma and taste. Alcohol is nicely hidden. Mouthfeel manages to be slightly creamy with lower carbonation, yet lighter side of medium in heft making it dangerously drinkable. Overall a world class DIPA, if they gave it a touch more heft and softened the bitterness on the back end it would be nearly perfect.

Good beer here. Poured out of a growler. Nice color, nice head. Aroma was of very nice and strong. Lots of citrus and pineapple. Taste was a little lackluster, and dominated by malts. Bitter resiney finish.

On draught at a restaurant. The color is a hazy yellow-orange with a snow-white head and lacing that did not dissipate. The smell was a classic dank IPA: strong grapefruit and pine with some sweet fruit, as well. The taste included some tropical fruit and caramel, as well as the grapefruit and floral hops. It is a very easy-drinking IPA and it hides the 8.2% ABV exceptionally well. Overall, it is an excellent East Coast IPA: it has sufficient bitter hoppiness but also has some nice tropical fruity sweetness. Kane is an excellent NJ brewery and this is a fine offering.

Enjoyed this while at the brewery. I had heard good things about Kane before and was not disappointed - I tried many brews and several were outstanding including this one. A classic IPA, very smooth to drink even with a high ABV. Fruity and loaded with flavor. Kane is quickly becoming one of my favorite and most trusted breweries. Cheers

Orange and hazy brew; looks like pureed peach. Off-white head with OK retention.

Massive hop nose: grapefruit pulp and peel, apricots, wildflowers, pineapple, pale malt sweetness and biscuit.

Flavor follows: it's juicy, favoring pineapple and stone fruit, with a touch of ruby red grapefruit. Finish is dank and herbal, along with orange peel.

Mouthfeel is where this brew suffers the most: it's relatively light and watery. Very drinkable for 8.2%, but I typically prefer quite a bit more heft with a DIPA.

Tasted on tap at Free Bridge Wine & Spirits. Beautiful golden appearance with excellent clarity. Citrus and pineapple in the aroma, and as for the taste, I'm getting a huge burst of that 'resinous' sort of hop flavor. There is a grapefruit aspect to the profile here as well. Dry mouth feel, with the rather high ABV masked extremely well. An amazing IPA out of my home state!

Had this on tap the other night up at the Cloverleaf as this was left over from Kane's Tap Takeover on Thursday. I wasn't expecting anything to be available when I came in and thankfully, this was what I had right at last call. Just like the Head High, this was insanely addicting with a hidden amount of alcohol and a great range of flavors that all meshed well together.

Appearance: pours an orange color with a 1/2" head that slowly falls.

Smell: mild tropical fruit and some citrus rises from the glass.

Taste: caramel, mango, grapefruit, and some floral hop bitterness create a well balanced and flavorful DIPA.

Mouthfeel: medium-heavy in body. Light crispness from start to finish. Long lasting aftertaste.

Overall: this is one of my new favorite DIPAs that i have whenever I find it on draft.

32oz Crowler into a Tulip

Nice pop of bitterness up front (expected @ 100 IBUs) followed by wonderful tropical notes. You get mango....you get pineapple....you get grapefruit....you get some citrus. Everything I want to taste in a DIPA. It also has a very nice, semi creamy, mouthfeel. Dangerously drinkable @ 8.2%. Absolutely no hint of alcohol what so ever. No reason why this, Head High and 077XX are not in the top 250! Show these amazing New Jersey brews some love please....

From a growler, it pours a deep, bright gold into a tulip glass. Pretty hazy. Snow white head made of tiny bubbles disappeared pretty quickly. Left a little bit of a ring. Not any lacing.

Smells very pungent. A dank, green/medicinal and floral aroma dominates. Semi sweet fruits.

Some tropical fruits up front. Pineapple, orange, and mango (maybe peach). Then some light bready malts, followed by some seriously fresh grassy/herbal hops. Nice intense bitterness that fades into some citrus and pine aftertaste.

Lots of resin slickness. Not as full bodied as I would have guessed by looking at it. Lower carbonation.

This beer strikes me as a much better version of Captain's Daughter. Outstanding, bordering on world class. The balance between the juicy fruits and the medicinal flavors. Could use just a touch more malt I think.

A: Deep golden with a sizable off white head.

S: Musky tropical and spicy florals. Light, crackery malt.

M: Pretty soft underbody and mod carbonation. Hard minerality on edges.

T: A good amount of wild onion, pine, lychee. Grapefruit bitterness at end but earthier orange still pronounced. Tropical slurry of passionfruit, kiwi, pineapple.

A: semi-clear golden amber color. White head. Had on draught so thin white head

S: pineapple, orange zest, crackers, sweet caramel, a hint of the onion/garlic notes

T: flavor leads off with pineapple, onions, hint of that garlic notes, big punch of grapefruit bitterness and some pine resin as well

M: medium, not much carbonation. Slightly sticky

O: a real nice blend of juicy hops and malts. Neither over powers the other. This is dangerously drinkable at 8%. Definite recommend

Pours a dark orange with little to no head. Smells of strong citrus and grapefruit. I really like the way it taste, bitter but not a hard bit. Easy to drink ... easier to order a 2nd.

- Draft.

A: Dark tangering orange in a goblet with no head covering. No lacing.

S: Aroma was lighter then expected, some lightly dry tropical notes, orange and citrus, entry level pale levels, gentle, yet still very nice.

T: Dry tropical fruit and dry grassy hop bittering. Bready malts and alcohol. Abv tastes lower then expected, dry bittering pine with dry orange and grapefruit peel. Big bittering finish, dry citrus peel.

M: Medium bodied, low carbonation, smooth, silky texture. Prefer a tighter crisp feel for an ipa but this is soothing and relaxing for its abv.

O: Can't argue here, a nice 4.0 smoothly brewed and delivery says it all. This can be considered the 90 min ipa to thier headhigh for comparsion purpose. Beautiful deep flowery hopping, soothing higher abv%, gently warming.

The beer offers grapefruit, a touch of pineapple, lots of citrus zest, with a clean finish. Floral hits on the back end as the beer is full bitterness, similar to its brother in Head High. It is clearly maltier as well. The hops are different between the two, which explains why their differences, despite the IPA and DIPA difference.

Drinking this on tap right now at Saison, Terminal C, Newark Airport. God bless the shift toward good beer bars that is taking over US airports. Going full circle to write a review for this beer that I first had back in May while in the exact same seat. Poured into a standard pint glass this time instead of a snifter.

A: Pours translucent amber with a beige head that clings onto the glass as I drink. Head subsides. No visible carbonation.

S: Bright lemony citrus and earthy tea. Sweet breadiness that reminds me Greek Easter or challah bread.

T: Grapefruit citrus/pith, unsweetened iced tea, lemon rind, dried apricot.

M: Smooth and moderately carbonated. The finish is aggressive and leaves the palate feeling like you just turned a grapefruit half inside out and sucked that mother dry.

D: Highky drinkable especially at over 8%. After about four months between the two times I've had this beer I'm dropping the smell from a 4.25 to 4 and upping the flavor to 4.25 from 4. This is a solid double IPA that has a good deal of complexity to it.

Poured into Heady glass from growler

L-Light copper, clear some visible carbonation, modest head with minimal retention but leaves a small white cap on top thick lacing that quickly slides down the side of the glass

S-Hop forward, grapefruit, slight pine, tropical fruits, peach, pineapple, mango, sweet caramel malts

T-grapefruit hops start the show........some tropical notes appear as it warms, picking up some of the flavors that appear in the nose, peach, mango, orange........ piney, lemon rind bitterness towards the finish...........some lingering sweetness from the caramel malts

F-leaves a slick, oily coating on the roof of the mouth, creamy with some carbonation
bite

O-very drinkable DIPA, flavor profile is to my liking with a good amount of tropical fruitiness to balance some of the citrus and pine. Alcohol is present but not in the way. Bitterness is more present in the middle and towards the finish. Enjoyable brew that I would not hesitate to get again

Growler shared by Curran tonight.

Pours a slightly hazy light orange yellow, with a one inch head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells wonderful, like candied grapefruit and pineapple, with some pine and grass.

This is exactly the type of IPA that I dig most. Hazy and full bodied- with tons of candied, not too sweet citrus and tropical fruit flavors- I pick up mostly grapefruit, pineapple, and orange, with some pine resin near the end. It's got a fairly bitter and lingering finish. The bitterness builds a bit with each sip. This is a really well crafted IPA. Kane knows how to f around with hops.

This is medium bodied, with a full and pillowy mouthfee, along with a moderate, appropriate level of carbonation.

My first IPA from Kane. It was bangin'.

Had it at the brewery. Good. Here goes:

A: Hazy orange. Nice head that leaves a little lacing. Just average for a DIPA, though.

S: Very good, but I think my cold might be getting the better of me. Lots of oranges, tangerines, flowers, herbs, tropical fruit, and mango. Big + on the oranges, tropical fruit, and mango, however (rather nice). Also sweet caramel malt.

T: Very well-balanced. Initial taste one of flowers and herbs from the Amarillo hops followed by more robust grapefruit, papaya, tangerines, lemon, and mango at the back of the palate. Also a fair amount of malt.

F: Good - nice and thick.

O: Solid brew, filled up a growler with it after the initial sample.
