Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Overhead is an American-style Imperial IPA. This beer is loaded with our favorite hops; Amarillo, Columbus, Centennial and Simcoe. It’s bittered with a gigantic charge of Columbus and Simcoe early in the kettle that is followed by several rounds of late kettle and whirlpool hops using Amarillo, Centennial and Simcoe. In the end, Overhead is brewed with over 5 pounds of hops per barrel which includes two rounds of dry hopping to create a cascade of pine, resin and citrus hop flavors that consume your palate. Although we brew Overhead with the same imported Pilsner and light crystal malts as Head High and ferment it with our house ale strain to produce a dry crisp finish, this blend of different hops creates an entirely new experience all its own.

Malt: Pilsner, Light Crystal, CaraPils & Wheat
Hops: 5+LBS/BBL
Kettle: Columbus & Simcoe
Whirlpool: Amarillo, Centennial & Simcoe
Dry Hop: Columbus & Simcoe
Yeast: American

Poured into Heady glass from growler

L-Light copper, clear some visible carbonation, modest head with minimal retention but leaves a small white cap on top thick lacing that quickly slides down the side of the glass

S-Hop forward, grapefruit, slight pine, tropical fruits, peach, pineapple, mango, sweet caramel malts

T-grapefruit hops start the show........some tropical notes appear as it warms, picking up some of the flavors that appear in the nose, peach, mango, orange........ piney, lemon rind bitterness towards the finish...........some lingering sweetness from the caramel malts

F-leaves a slick, oily coating on the roof of the mouth, creamy with some carbonation
bite

O-very drinkable DIPA, flavor profile is to my liking with a good amount of tropical fruitiness to balance some of the citrus and pine. Alcohol is present but not in the way. Bitterness is more present in the middle and towards the finish. Enjoyable brew that I would not hesitate to get again

Poured from a 1L growler into a snifter

Appearance: light copper/ amber color. Very hazy. 1 finger white head. Nice lacing and some visible carbonation.

Smell: tropical fruit, peach, pink grapfruit juice. Some light pine and fresh cut grass

Taste: sweet tropical fruit and grapfruit. Some lemon peel And a little pine sap Nice bitterness with a slight malt backbone that just balances it perfect

Feel: medium bodied, a little creamy at first. Nice bright lingering carbination

Overall: just a very very good imperial ipa. One of my favorite beers ever. Go visit the brewery and try some of this stuff out.
