A - The beer appeared a nice clear red color with some copper highlights. The beer produced a nice, two finger, off-white head that dissipated too quickly, but did leave some lacing.

S - The beer gave off a nice mostly sweet, malty aroma with a hint of hops.

T - Mostly malty, like the nose. That is about it, nothing else to really mention.

M - The beer appeared to be a bit watered down and a bit over carbonated, but to be honest, it didn't detract all that much from the beers drinkability, what did was the slight metallic aftertaste that I noticed. Overall, I thought that it was better than the hefewiezen that I tried, but not by much.

A - slightly cloudy red potato skin. Lots of good lacing and a beigehead.

S - dirty horseblanket and hops. Bits of wheat.

T - simple sweet loose malt aftertaste.

M - sadly watery. A bit of seltzer. Tingling aftertaste and a few acceptable burps

D - overall a generic interpretation. I like that they went for a traditional interpretation of marzen and not just another American amber.

Pours a four finger light tan head over a clear copper brown liquid. Smells earthy and grassy from hops with mild nuggat and munich malt.

Tastes mostly of fresh hop flavor with some malt sweet accompanied by mild hop bitter. Hop flavor is very floral, oranges, and honey with some tettnanger 'grunge'. Malt is nut, biscuity and rather wet, but finishes a bit dry with some metallic and mild carbonation sting. Hoppy retronasal is pleasant. Md-light body and modest carbonation.

After a nice Father's Day Brunch at BFBH, I picked up a growler of this. It pours a medium amber color with a slight tan head that dissipates quickly. Leaves a trace of lacing along the glass. The smell is very nice -- sweet & malty with a hint of fruit. The taste is also sweet, crisp, a little bitter, but also refreshing and not too heavy. Kinda smooth for a Marzen/Oktoberfest. Might be hard to drink more than a few of these in a session--that is, unless you are drinking them with a nice plate of german food. highly recommend.

The beer pours a hazy amber color with a 1/2" offwhite head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a nice pale, crystal, and wheat malt scent along with a bit of yeast aroma. The taste is decent. It has a smooth, pale and crystal malt flavor that goes down easy and finishes clean with a some esters. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a pretty solid marzen. It's easy drinking and full of flavor.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a very cloudy light brown which may have been because it was the end of the keg...Aroma of sweet malt and oatmeal, perhaps a touch of spices too. Flavor of sweet malt and some toasted notes. Not very flavorful and a bit over-carbonated.

Had this beer during my first trip to Black Forest. It was a great, deep amber color with a thick, rich head. The taste was smooth and sweet with a nutty undercurrent. Also, you could really taste the hops. The smell was light, possibly a bit fruity and very pleasant. It was easily likable and very drinkable. One of my favorites that I sampled that night!

A: Beautiful amber color with a fluffy one-finger head that stayed with the beer much of the way down the glass.

S: Some hints of sweet cherries and toasted almonds.

T: A lot going on here; hints of cherries, coffee, toasted almond, honey - it was smooth and somewhat sweet.

M: Not very heavy and not overly carbonated; served at a nice temperature.

D: Definitely sessionable and definitely worth drinking again.

Poured a deep amber hue with a one finger off white creamy head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured clean malts, floral hop and a touch of caramel.

The taste consisted of a balanced combination of doughy malt, mild sweetness and a drying hop at thie finish.

The mouthfeel was of average fullness with a clean finish.

Overall good droinkability. Rather Sam Adamsesque.
