Wolf Picker is named in honor of our hop growing community and the harvesting rig they use. Each year, the brew is crafted with same malt base but with new and unique varieties of hops. Some of the varieties are so new, they’re not even named yet.

For Wolf Picker 2022.

Looks quite inviting. Opaque straw. Thick, rocky head that lasts for days, with moderate lacing.

On the nose, honeydew and cantaloupe melon, with a light orange juice, and grapefruit peel, and peaches. Light floral nature as well. Rather subdued, but over all very pleasing, if simple nose.

Palate is much the same. Cantaloupe that has been spritzed with grapefruit. Some peachy flavors linger in the background. Creamy, not quite coconut, but something in that vein. Huge melon flavors on the exhale.

I like this hop (HBC 1019) quite a bit. I'd like to get my hands on some. It is elegant, and quite lovely.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light orange, golden color with a moderate white head. SRM of 8-9. (3.75)

Aroma: Just like the can says it has strong aromas of tropical mango, papaya, citrus, melon, coconut. A touch of herbs too. (3.75)

Flavor: Light to moderate flavors of coconut, flower, tropical flavors upfront. Dissolves into a clean, dry, and crispy finish. Mild herbs on the finish, but not very bitter. (3.50

Feel: Lighter bodied and strong carbonation. Crispy and clean on the mouthfeel. Nears the IPL status in terms of body. (4.00)

Compared to Bahaus Lounge Wizard 3/19/20: Pours a clearer color. Stronger aromas of tropical and flower. Less citrus and candy. More herbal. Cleaner and dryer.

Overall: A pretty easy drinking session IPA. Nice tropical and floral/herbal flavors as described on the can. Some coconut, flower, and tropics mostly. Body is light and nearing IPL status. Nicely clean and dry though. (Final Rating: 3.68)

On tap in Boise.

Pours a clear straw color with hints of gold, minimal head. Interesting - very Pilsner or Light Lager-looking.

Interesting notes continue on the nose...some tropical fruit notes (mango/tangerine/papaya/lime) combine with a crackery malt undertone and an herbal note of earthy hops.

The palate unfolds the same as the nose, herbal and tropical hops, crackery malt backbone is pretty buried, light-to-moderate bitterness. Tangerine, lime, etc.

Crisp body doesn’t feel heavy - carbonation is spot on.

Overall it’s a different brew than I expected but it’s not bad - nice to have some variety to spice up life.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance- The beer pours a clear amber color with a one finger head of puffy foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is mostly of a tropical fruit smell of pineapple, tangerine, and mango. Along with these fruity aromas comes some cracker malt smells as well as a little bit of a grapefruit and herbal hop. Overall rather inviting
Taste – The taste begins with a dry cracker malt flavor that has a good level of earthy hop mixed with a bit of grapefruit hop taste. There is a little bit of tropical fruit as well as a touch of caramel, but these flavors are very light and remain that way throughout the taste. Toward the end a little bit of hay come to the tongue and leaves one with a nice dry and crisp moderately hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is crisp and light with a carbonation level that is slightly higher. For the dry and crisp tastes as well as nice hop blend the feel is rather nice and makes for a nice easy sipper.
Overall –A nice crisp pale ale with a very easy drinking feel and a tasty, but session able, flavor profile.

Picked up a 6 pack of this for $9. Makes it real easy to pick a new beer to try when priced so affordable (and the pale ale style is one of my faves too). Pours a yellow with some light amber color with a moderate amount of haze, but not milkshake like levels. 1/3" white head. O'Dells usually makes better looking pale ales than this. Strata hop smells nice, stone fruit plus has some lemon and lime notes to it. I'm guessing HBC 438 = Strata.

Taste is moderately bitter, keeps ups the medley of stone fruit and citrus bitterness. Body is light and simple. Light tropical notes enter into the mouth feel. I appreciate the uniqueness. Everyone making Mosaic and Citra slurry bombs these days, which certainly have their time and place. At this price I would have no problem turning this purchase into a repeat one. Plenty sessionable, watch out, I could easily kill all 6 cans out on the river come summertime.

This one just doesn't work for me. Comes off with a onion, earthy, sweaty gym sock flavor on the initial sip which then morphs slightly into the fruit flavors intended. Grapefruit and mango on the back end, though offset by a fairly assertive hop bite on the finish.
