Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50%

Availability: Spring

Notes / Commercial Description:
Wolf Picker is named in honor of our hop growing community and the harvesting rig they use. Each year, the brew is crafted with same malt base but with new and unique varieties of hops. Some of the varieties are so new, they’re not even named yet. Wolf Picker 2016 features the experimental HBC 438 and Cashmere hops. These two offer a complex and layered hop character that combine hints of coconut, papaya and mango with a mild herbal quality.

AWESOME BEER! This is one of the best beers I have had to date. It has a surprising lighter color but drinks like a darker ale. This beer is great out of a chilled glass and I actually prefer it out of the pilsner glass. This is definitely worth a try and a great offering from O'Dell.

This stuff is great. It has a hint of peach or grapefruit or pine... not sure. It's just one tasty beer

Aroma is pine, spices and a hard to pinpoint hint of big body, almost IIPA. The flavor is citrus, berry/slightly sweet hops, malts, rather large body for an APA, complex tropical fruit and a bitter/tart finish.

Look:
Slightly hazy golden yellow color

Smell:
Slight Grassy notes with citrus in the background pineapple orange lemon

Taste:
Solid Malt backbone without much flavor to it letting the hops shine through, good light bitter from mid to end Hops are pine, pineapple, some lemon, and possibly orange at the end.

Feel :
Great mouth-feel creamy but light ad refreshing

Overall:
Great Pale ale really hits the style and exemplifies the experimental hops

2016 Version.

Pours clear golden with a frothy white head. Nice lacing left on sides. Aroma first smacks me with some fresh herbs from the local garden, that is then nicely paired with the sweet fruit aromatics of peaches, mangos and honeydew. Flavor follows suit with only a mild bitterness in the finish. A crisp, medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, awesome batch. Definitely the best Wolfpicker version I have tried.

A: Clear, golden appearance with a bone white head that falls quickly.. Sheets of lace leave a thick blanket around a Half Acre tulip glass.
S: Tropical citrus aroma with some pine needles mixed in ever so slightly. Almost a Juniper berry or Blackberry note.
T: The hop taste is exquisite for a pale ale. Like a Zombie Dust variant but exhibiting a strong Pineapple flavor. Very unique and appealing. Slightly sweet and fruity in the opening that transitions to a strong bitterness then fading into a nice light biscuit malty finish.
M: Crisp and refreshing, very flavorful. Bursting with tropical fruit juice flavor. Medium carbonation.
Overall: One of my favorite pale ales on the planet. I hope this is not one and done.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Pint.

Appearance: Clear, light straw with good sized stark white head and decent lacing.

Smell: Sharp, tangy and tropical, with mango, peaches, pineapple, citrus and berry.

Taste: Dried-out, grainy malts that are more crackery than the prototypical toasted and caramel notes. Hops take center stage, but are not very bitter, with mango, grapefruit, berry and orange. Some light herbal and spice notes, but mostly tropical.

Feel: Relatively light body with moderate carbonation. Very dry finish that almost imparts a light tartness.

Overall: Very, very nice Pale Ale that almost reminds me more of some of the "Session IPAs" even if the abv is a little higher. The unnamed hops used remind me a little of Mosaic. Great stuff. About on par with Odell's other APA (St. Lupulin) - I might even prefer this one by a hair.
