There's plenty to celebrate when fall arrives in Colorado. The warm days grow shorter, the cool shadows grow longer, and the aspens put on their golden, grand finale. Brewed with biscuity sweet Munich malt and spicy herbal noble hops, our Oktoberfest is a reminder to stop and enjoy the show.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours red orange with a fluffy white head. Smells of fresh fruit and caramelized grain. Tastes of very bright fresh fruit and caramelized grain. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Picked up a six pack of cans. Best by date: 12/05/23.

Pours a copper in color with hints of amber. A finger thick head sits on top after an aggressive pour, but it subsides rather quickly to a thin layer of lacing, which then fades to nothing. No lacing on the glass after the first twenty seconds or so. Carbonation looks a touch below average with slightly smaller than average bubbles rising in the glass. Pretty on point for the style in terms of color. Otherwise, this is a rather unimpressive look after the pour. My partner even stopped by to ask if the beer was flat.

Aroma is a tad weak even after swishing the beer around in the glass. I'm guessing it will open up a bit more as it warms. Getting caramelized malts and a hint of spice. A little herbal, a little sweet. What is there isn't bad, although a bit one-dimensional.

There's a lot more flavor than aroma, luckily, although it, too is a bit one-dimensional. Lots of caramelized malts with a hint of biscuits in the background and a spicy, biting hoppiness towards the swallow. Aftertaste is mostly sweet, caramelized grains, herbal tea and even a hint of apple. Alcohol is not detectable, even as it warms.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lower, but zesty on the swallow carbonation. Very clean. It's a touch thin, but does have some chewiness. It's very easily drinkable at 6.1% ABV.

It's that time of year and I've been quaffing a lot of Märzen. This one is unfortunately at the bottom of the pile, currently. It's certainly not bad, but I'm not a huge fan of the style to begin with and this one didn't offer anything special in terms of look or flavor, and it's a touch too sweet for me. It is drinkable, though. I would not seek this one out again. Prost!

12 oz can from Albertsons. Bronze body, small bubbly head fades to flat. Malty, bready aroma. Taste is on target, more malty flavors, caramel, brown bread. Finishes with a light, tangy bitterness. Solid.

12oz can bought at the brewery. 6.1 % ABV, 19 IBU. "Brewed with biscuity sweet Munich malts and spicy, herbal noble hops"
Pours out to a sparkingly clear light amber, a little lighter than expected, forming a small soapy off white head with poor retention and no lacing. Carbonation is 2.5 or so. Nose of biscuit, malt, toasted bread crust. No hop character, clean ferment, no off aromas. Mouthfeel is quite smooth, medium-dense body, a bit richer than expected, finishes dry and toasty. Taste of toast, malt, mild herbal bitterness, faint caramel. No off flavors. No sulfur. A little bit of rotting apples.

A decent oktoberfest. I'm generally not a big fan of the style and don't seek these out, but wouldn't turn this down.

From a can. Nice amber color with a finger of off-white head. Earthy caramel malt aroma. Medium body. Caramel malt flavor with some floral hop notes on the finish. Pretty good.

Poured out into a clear pint glass a nice coppery-orange with a white head. The smell was an Oktoberfest beer with some very faint spices. The taste was of a nice Oktoberfest beer. Overall, a decent beer.

12oz can eb date 12/03/22 into a dimple mug.
L: Pours clear iced tea amber w a fizzy light khaki head that quickly goes to nothing, low carbo, zero lacing.
S: Caramelized malts. That's it.
T: Caramelized malts, a light hop snap, lightly sweet, a hint of breadiness in the finish, clean tasting and very gently earthy.
F: Lightly snappy then a smooth, glassy med-bodied mouthfeel with a moderately fast, dry finish.
O: Clean and easy drinking. Not a lot of character or feel. Malty, gently sweet and good tasting. It is good in it's style.

"Best by 12/14/22"; drank 9/30/22 @ the Yarchives.

Semi-opaque dark orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice, noisy eggshell head; minimal lace.

Toasted wheat bread, mild acorn & faint orange peel notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Toasted wheat bread, caramel, mild orange peel & faint honey notes on the finish.

A bit sweet, but the flavors are harmonious. I'd have another!

12 oz. can, looks like a best by date of 12/14/22, so not dated very far out. Another new one to me from Odell Brewing, and a style I'm a big fan of, acquired a single can as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's.

Poured to a Southern Tier Warlock glass.

A - Pours a still coppery orange body, small finger of khaki head fades to a ring quickly leaving the beer looking rather still. Second aggressive pour yields virtually no conjuring of head.

S - Initial whaff of apple juice / cider, some nail polish alcohol fumes. Darker malts do begin to emerge as the beer sits, but I was expecting more brown bread & crustiness. Fumey, above all else.

T - Full of sticky caramel malts, some notes of brown bread, cherry. Feels imbalanced. Slightly mineral finish. Touch of alcohol fumes.

M - Feel is smooth, slick, fluid. Medium-full bodied, low carb. Feels heavier than it should.

Overall, not hitting the marks for me

Odell Brewing Oktoberfest -----3/5.
