A bright APA that strikes a balance between modern and classic. Re-reviewing this one from a can dated best-by 6/29. A slightly hazy golden with a rocky head. The aroma comes on strong with equal parts light toffee malt and vibrant hops that recall pineapple, grapefruit, and mango. Taste is predominately hoppy atop the mild caramel malts suggested by the aroma. Very bright, combining a NE-ish juiciness with assertive bitterness. Light bodied and well-carbonated.

Grassy, Bitter, Fruity, Biscuity

Golden, with a touch of haze and a big foamy head with stick, Drumroll is grassy, fruity, floral and piney in the nose. Odell has brewed a beer with tight carbonation, a creamy mouthfeel, and a light, but firm body. Fruity, citrusy, piney, bitter, and earthy with a dry, grassy and biscuity finish. This is an aggressive APA for hop heads that smacks of a "Session IPA." Very drinkable and refreshing.

As reviewed in BeerAdvocate magazine #115 (August 2016).

This beer seems to have a little bit of manic in it. One day I will crack a can open and it opens up to me as I imagine the team at Odell hoped. Other days, however, I will crack open a can and every thing seems to be a muddled mess. At its best it pouts golden with a nice white head. Aroma is citrusy, tropical, sweet graininess, a little floral, and pine with the flavor follows suits. Definitely a nice hop bomb for an APA and could probably get the IPA label without folks thinking twice about it. A active mouthfeel. Overall, I like it. When everything comes together its a great APA. When it fails t come together, its a decent APA.

12 oz can. Pours very hazy dark golden orange with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is subdued - biscuity malt and stinky hops.

The flavor is grainy biscuit malt with some subdued resiny fruity hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation

Overall, I've liked this better on tap (~3.5) with more resiny fruity hops.

Citrusy aroma of tangerine and grapefruit, along with some biscuit. Taste is driven by tangerine, grapefruit, mango and biscuit. Hoppy but not bitter. Moderate carbonation with a mostly dry finish. Nice citrusy APA.

Copper to brown in color with a light haziness. There's a half inch of creamy off white to beige with light lacing. I'm smelling citrus hops and light malt. I'm tasting citrus hops and light malt and it is very dialed in. This reminds me of 4 Hands Citywide. There's a slight pine to citrus afterbite. The mouth is light, crisp and refreshing.

S: citrus, tropical fruit, traces of caramel and biscuit, some herb, and a hint of garlic. Hop aromas are medium high, malt aromas are medium. I

L: hazy gold under a lacy, persistent 1" off-white foam cap.

T: hop forward loaded with fruit, citrus, a gently biscuit malt backbone, and light caramel. The hop flavors and bitterness are medium high and the malt flavors are medium.

F: The body and carbonation are medium.

O: This is a well balanced, full flavored and drinkable American Pale Ale.

12 ounce can poured into a tulip glass. Odell does best by and as far as I can tell this was canned in late May.

Really like the appearance. Bright golden color that suggests a light-drinking beer. There's a slight trickle of carbonation and a fluffy, sudsy pale white head. As it recedes, a crown of lace pegs to the glass. 5

Not a big aroma, unfortunately. Faint sweet white bread, lemony hops and a touch of grapefruit are all I can perceive. Some underripe mango is there but very faint. What I am smelling I like but I want much more. 3.5

This is all bitter citrus in flavor. Its taste reminds me of lemon and grapefruit peel. There's a distant prickly pineapple flavor and orange juice-like hint on the finish. The malt shows with a delicate sweetness and touches of breadiness. I'm not enamored by this beer's flavor, but it does grow on me. 3.5

Hefty bitterness on the palate here. Prickly carbonation and accompanying zest. Lighter than medium-bodied but it doesn't come off as watery. It's fairly refreshing but not quite enough for me to crave multiple. 3.75

I may have had overly heightened expectations for this brew. It's good, but it doesn't quite hit in the flavor and feel in the way I would want.
