Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Rupture was born out of our obsession with getting the most out of each and every hop. In fact, we built a machine in our brewery to incorporate a unique fresh grind process. By grinding the whole hop we “rupture” the lupulin inside – releasing the oils that give the beer its flavor. And what we grind that day we use that day. Leaving you a beer that’s fresh, aromatic, with a bright hoppy character.

12 oz. can:

Pours hazed yellow with a creamy white head that leaves lacing.\u
The smell is of musty resin, grapefruit and fresh bread.

The taste is musty/dank and citric. Hop-forward but balanced by sweet bread to keep it in APA territory.

Very creamy and smooth this is a wonderful APA. Easy to drink and very enjoyable.

A six pack was given to me as a gift for installing an outdoor electrical outlet and circuit breaker for a friend.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a pint glass.

My nose instantly detects the smell of a freshly peeled grapefruit from two feet away. The color is light amber. The head dissipates fairly quickly, leaving a very scant lacing. There is nice lacing at the bottom of the glass, if you are into that sort of thing.

The mouthfeel is not sticky at all, and just a tad on the dry side. I am trying to find something to say besides grapefruit, and I decided on a hint of carambola, or starfruit, which I miss from my time of living in South Florida.

I assumed that this was an IPA, with all those hops, but it is just a pale ale, surprise! Now I see the pucker factor just isn’t very prevalent, and alcohol level is low for an American IPA. Still, I scratch my head. But it is my kind of pale ale to be sure!

Golden appearance with high clarity. Very clean yet very strong hop smell that I would call herbal, sweet, and inviting. Higher ABV than the flavor suggested. Calming hop flavor initially followed by a bitter flavor and dry aftertaste. Seltzer-like carbonation with a full or heavy body.
Overall a good beer that I enjoy mainly because of the aroma, I enjoy IPA's because of the intensity of the hops but I especially love those that are not very bitter throughout.

Hazy light orangish pour with thick white foamy head.
Smells of light tropical fruit/ some melon.
Taste is an earthy/ grindy/ slightly grainy beer with mildly flavored yet bright citrus hops...but after each sip I want more because it all comes off so clean.
Feels medium-bodied and slick.
This APA is an Odell beer that I’d get again.
