Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Rupture was born out of our obsession with getting the most out of each and every hop. In fact, we built a machine in our brewery to incorporate a unique fresh grind process. By grinding the whole hop we “rupture” the lupulin inside – releasing the oils that give the beer its flavor. And what we grind that day we use that day. Leaving you a beer that’s fresh, aromatic, with a bright hoppy character.

Getting the most out of their hop rations, the brewers at Odell have always ben adept at making wonderful hoppy ale. But with their "ruptured" hop devices and techniques their American pale ale that celebrates the same name springs to life wiht a hop forward balance but with a sensible drinkability and an effortless in refreshment that's just shy of an explosion of taste.

Lively effervescence brings Rupture to life, billowing to the rim with an arid honeycomb structured froth that hovers above a honey golden, sparkling ale. A bright bouquet of citrus, pine, herb and tropical fruit resonate with a medium intensity in scent while the sweetness bounces off of the tongue with light honey and caramel to suggest a granola-like first impression.

As the middle palate opens up the malts begin to dry and the hops come to life. A burst of citrus comes with a spicy citronella character, dry orange peel, pink grapefruit and a hint of lime. Tropical impressions of mango, passionfruit and papaya are also of the dried or dehydrated character before the taste quickly tightens and the beer finishes peppery, firmly bitter and laced with crushed pinecone and dried grasses and parsley.

Medium bodied overall but the beer's impressive carbonation gives the beer a serious lift that facilitates dryness and elevates the beer's aroma and hop bitterness. Its bubbled dice up the malt sweetness with ease and further encourages a crisp, clean and highly refreshing session overall. A medium length afterglow of dried fruit peels and pine resonate on the after palate with another quick return to the glass coming fast.

Pours a slight hazed golden yellow color with a fresh super white head. Smells of citrus and fruit some cracker meal. Taste was tropical and floral with citrus and stone fruits, a bready meal malty finish that complemented this PA. Sweet and well carbonated with a fruity biscuit dry finish, Highly drinkable.

12 oz can, dated 12/12/17. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a fluffy white head that retains well and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is bright fruity hops with some sweet sugary bubblegum notes and a little dankness.

The flavor is sweet bready malt with fruity resiny hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.

Overall, a nice lighter fruity resiny IPA.

Poured from 12 oz. can into glass.
Look: Light, honey goldish. Nice white foamy head, dissipated slowly. Mild lacing.
Smell: HOPS! Sweet, fruity, exotic, floral. Smells refreshing and crisp.
Taste: Fruity (mango?) up front, with nice floral hops coming in after and lingering. Very refreshing and crisp, like it smelled.
Feel: Thin and watery, but works for this beer. Good carbonation.
Overall: Super tasty beer. Full of flavor, yet still pretty "light" feeling and tasting. Easy, easy drinker and so simple yet refreshing. Very impressed.

Pours an effervescent gold color with 3 fingers of cream colored head. Great head retention & lacing

S: Citrus & tropical fruit

T: Mango, orange, & a dry breadyness up front. More of the same as this warms, a little grapefruit as well. Finishes dry, crisp, fruity/juicy

MF: Medium body, firm carbonation, nice balance

So easy to drink, nice offering from a brewery that usually can do no wrong
