Gold orange, slightly hazy body. Thick white head.

Scent is pungent grassy and citrus hops.

Taste has a wide variety of hops. Citrus/tropical fruit up front, grass closs behind, then a bitter pine finish. This one has a nice bitter punch to it.

Medium body with a oily resinous mouthfeel. Crisp carbonation.

This is a very good demonstration of an IPA. Great hop profile, nice and bitter, and very fresh tasting. Good drinkability.

Review adapted from notes taken 7/19/11 and 8/29/11

Appearance: A clear, nice orange with a golden glow - very pretty - a little white head, fades quick, leaves above-average lacing

Smell: In a word, excellent - very west coast - tropical aromas with pineapple, oranges, grapefruits, and some pine - some dank, herbal weediness (especially as it warms) - base of sweet, pale malts seem like they add balance

Taste: Very citrusy and tropical, and almost balanced - fantastic hop profile with pineapple, mango, orange, and tangerine flavors - juicy and fresh - decidedly bitter, but not extreme - the malt profile does not fully balance this hop assault, but it provides a nice backbone with some sweetness and breadiness

Mouthfeel: Very smooth, adequately carbonated, medium bodied

Overall: One of my favorite American IPAs

In my book, this is a top tier IPA among the ranks of Bell's Two Hearted and Russian River Blind Pig. I love the hop profile and the attempt at balance. This is excellent fresh, but it loses some magic over time. I wish I could get this more often.

poured 12oz bottle into snifter. Best by 4/27/19.

A - Darker hazy orange with a 2 finger white head. Nice retention and large blotches of lacing.

S - Pine and citrus hops, with some floral wisps. There is a pleasant, beautiful caramel maltiness that gives it an English touch.

T - Starts with some citrus, orange and grapefruit, then builds into a sweeter caramel malt backbone with some more floral hops. Finish is some orange and grapefruit bitterness.

M - Medium body, smooth, with well placed carbonation and oily.

O - As Odell puts it this is an English Style IPA with the big caramel backbone, but it has much more hoppiness. It is well done, enjoyable and easy to drink.

A: Hazy pale amber color has active carbonation. Foamy and dense off-white head has good retention and leaves heavy lace.

S: Heavy grapefruit with some lemon and fresh cut flowers. Pine and a little sugary sweetness linger in the background.

T: Slightly woodsy malt is quickly replaced with a rush of strong grapefruit, lemon and pepper bitterness. Grapefruit is the predominant hop flavor, and it lingers lightly into the finish. A nicely done medley of flavors.

M: Medium body is very oily and even a little leafy. Carbonation level is just a touch too high.

D: Nicely done overall. Definitely worth a revisit. Good session beer, but be careful of the alcohol content. This beer doesn't drink as strong as it is.

Served from a 12oz bottle

A- Beautiful straw/gold hue with a nice dense white head, great lacing and nice oily clarity

S-High alpha acid citrus hops dominate the nose with grapefruit and pine tree with some toasted cereal grains lingering in there.

T- The nose carries through well with bright citrus hops. Pine, grapefruit, orange and some mint are up front. A nice toasted malt back bone holds the bitterness in check. Well balanced while still maintaining the hop forward taste.

M- Good silky mouthfeel with a good amount of gas to keep it light and lively.

D-For a reasonably big beer it drinks fairly easy.

I poured this one from a 12oz brown bottle into a tulip pint glass.

A= This ale poured a very lightly hazed yellow/gold with a 3/4" white head. The head dropped slowly to a thin cap and left behind lots of soapy lace down my glass.

S= I found a very light malt aroma (mostly bready) covered by grapefruit and orange hop notes.

T= Started off with a brief biscuity malt presence that was soon buried by an avalanche of oily hop flavors and a firm bitterness. Hop flavor contained grapefruit, orange, and a hint of minty herbs. Finished dry with a lot of hop aftertaste.

MF= Medium bodied, modest carbonation feel.

D= A highly drinkable IPA here, but there was something I could not place in the flavor that just didn't do it for me. Well made all the same, and I would gladly revisit this one to continue my research!

From notes from the end of June.

Thanks to eclipse54 for this beer. Poured into a DFH pint glass.

A: Clear yellow, orange color. Really good carbonation from bottom of glass. Half finger pure white head.

S: Really nice grapefruit hop aroma. Overrip peach. Little malt tip.

T: Little bite on tip of the tongue. Nice malt on the middle. And a crisp bite at the close. Love the hop aroma, but more pine on the taste profile.

M: Medium to light. It's nice and easy drinking without being coating.

O: SOLID brew!!!! Really solid! The Myrcenary is better, but this runs a close second for sure in their lineup. Cheers!

Poured into a standard pint glass. The beer is a pure copper color. A frothy thick head sits on top and dissipates to a chunky film. Excellent lacing all over the glass. The beer smells so, so good. Sweet oranges mixed with grapefruit rind and bitter hops. The beer tastes as good as it smells. Again, some sweet citrus flavors such as tangerines or oranges abound, with a perfect compliment of bitter grapefruit. A nice clean, dry hop finish. The mouthfeel is clean and dry.

Overall, I'm very, very impressed with this IPA. I've seen this beer on the shelf for years, and never tried it until now. This beer is so tasty and full of aroma. The senses get overloaded with quality.

Poured into the Sam Adams pint.

A - Nice golden brass color with a .5 inch head that sticks for a bit but no too long. There is some sticky lacing.

S - NICE! Grapefruit aroma with some hints of pine fill my nose. Full bodied smell if you ask me. Grapefruit sweetness a plenty as well in the nose.

T & M - Citrusy and piney. Very attractive flowery hops, with some bready biscuity malt hidden along the way. Very crisp, traditional AIPA tastes. Loving every second of the hops and malt. Nice CO2. Medium - light bodied.

D - Refreshing and excellent!
