12oz bottle, extra in a trade with BA user BigDank...served in a pint glasss

A - barely of finger of very loose white foam which quickly diminished to a small floating island, but decent webbed lacing down the sides of the glass. the beer is a crystal clear, strong golden color with amber hues.

S - big juicy floral and citrus hops...smells like a pice of juicyfruit gum.

T - following the nose with floral and citrus, tastes like the gum as well. quite sweet, some bready malt underneath it all. bitterness comes out at the end along with a touch of alcohol. quite unique.

M - prickly carbonation, body is light and insanely sticky...covers your mouth with some lingering bitterness.

D - a solid IPA, had to throw some extra points here for being quite unique. high drinkability, something i would go to now and then for something different.

Appearance: Pours a semi-clear, bright gold. Small white head fades rather quickly but a thin lace lingers.

Aroma: Quite aggressive aroma. Pungently floral up front but I really liked the lemon, grapefruit, citrus-y flavors towards the end. Nothing but hops here.

Taste: Quite refreshing! Bitter and hoppy from the get-go but finishes light, sweet, and citrus-y. Virtually no malt flavor.

Palate: Very light-bodied, lively carbonation and a very clean mouthfeel.

Overall: Another highly drinkable IPA, I think they're finally starting to grow on me :) Great hop flavor without being annoyingly bitter. Great mouthfeel and aftertaste so I almost want to savor the flavor, but it's so light and clean I can't fight the desire to indulge.

A: Hazy orange with a dense head; good retention and wonderful lacing

S: Grapefruit and citrus dominate with a subtle pine resin

T: Hop bitterness upfront; citrus and grapefruit balance the bitterness to near perfection; there is a strong bitterness on the back end that is pleasant but biting

F: Good carbonation and overall mouth feel

D: One of my favorite IPAs; drinkable and delicious

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Best by date of 4/21/10 on the label. Nice looking label. Was a clear golden yellow color with slight carbonation. It had an average sized white head that settled into a very thin film and good collar. Good lacing with moderate amounts sticking.

The aroma was grapefruit, c-hops, fruit, a bit pine and some caramel malt in the back. Really enjoyed the aroma on this one. It really blended the various elements well. Nothing really dominated but it just come together in a pleasing aroma. The taste also was excellent and again blended and balanced well. Great citric hop flavor without being overly bitter. This could be hop session beer even at 7% (never really smell or taste the 7%). Mouthfeel was medium with good aftertaste but it needs a little more carbonation.

Overall, another great offering from one of my favorite Colorado breweries. Wish they would distribute to Texas! Until then, I drink as much as I can when in CO and get the occasional care package. Highly recommend - an excellent AIPA. Rotation - had ummagum ship me some. If here this would be a regular in the hops rotation.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a nice sized white head. Aroma is very piney with some citrus.

Taste is opposite of the aroma. The fruitty citrus comes to the front with the pine more towards the background. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Drinkability is great despite the 7% abv. A very good IPA.

I really like the color, a dull sunburst, in this beer but the head is lackluster. I guess that balances my rating to just average.

The smell has a nice slightly piney, grapefruit smell. A hint of apricot. Taste was clean. Moderate amount of bitterness for an IPA. The hops work well in this beer (grapefruit, citrus). A light sweetness plays with your tongue as well. My only problem is that this beer is a little light overall on flavor.

You don't notice the alcohol until you get a little palate fatigue and the hops fade out. But even then it doesn't stand out.

Mouthfeel is pretty thin and slippery. I could kick back with a few of these cause they are really easy to drink.

A: Light orange/copper, rather dull, and clear. White head that laces well but has nearly zero retention.

S: Complex hops, blended Island fruits, sugar, pine, honey, and pineapple.

T: Evergreen and sour citrus hits the tongue first, followed quickly by a blend of hops built on a subtle malt base. All this wraps up into a lip-smacking bitter and dry middle taste, which then sweetens a bit as the minimal aftertaste takes over.

M: Nicely smooth, with enough carbonation to be pleasing but not bite too hard.

D: Moderately drinkable, but not the best around.

12oz bottle courtesy of nonstick. Thanks Chris!
Poured into a Bruery tulip.

A - Pours a transparent pale golden color. Low white head with little staying power. Recedes to a micro layer and a thin white collar. Light lacing left on the glass.

S - Bright, fresh grapefruit and cut grass in the nose with a decent amount of pine blending in. Some very light bready malt in the background...mostly hops though. Very good smelling IPA.

T - A touch fruity, good grapefruit flavor, nice strong and sharp bitterness...maybe the slightest hint of alcohol. Pretty dry, not much residual sweetness at all. Good piney hop flavors mix in the middle.

M - Mouthfeel is bit on the thin side. Carbonation is rather high and definitely adds a bunch of prickly, mouth filling bubbles. Maybe a bit too much carbonation, but not a major distraction, just a personal preference. Less carbonation might bring out a bit more flavor too.

D - Pretty nice IPA...carbonation a bit high and consequently makes this beer rather filling. Flavors are really nice - plenty of hops - citrus/pine and just enough malt to add some balance. This could very easily be a go to everyday IPA if it were available in this area...oh well, maybe someday in the future.

hand delivered from a friend visiting from Colorado (I asked for Fat Tire, I get Odell IPA; I'm happy both ways). Poured from a 12oz bottle into a 10 oz wine glass (over two pours).

A: bright transparent orange (could be a Rose wine if it was any pinker). minimal head but notable lacing going down the sides of the glass.

S: fruity (peachy) and citrusy hops dominate, but the bready malt comes out in the nose unlike....

T: pure hop; bright orange bite that leaves a beautiful hop-induced drymouth behind it.

M: Silky smooth and well carbonated make it a hard beer to sip; but it really illuminates the front of the tongue and is best not gulped

D: I want to be mad at my friend for only hand delivering to me in New York from Colorado one sixpack of this, because I could definitely go for more than a few nights worth : )

She handpicked this to bring me over Fat Tire, knowing I would like it? That's either what I call great taste in beer or a true friend!
Happy New Year!

Aromas of floral hops and a doughy malt backbone.

Flavor is loaded with flowery, American hops and orange with a great malty balance. Finishes with a gentle hop bite.

In the end, it manages to have great hop flavor minus any harsh or unwanted bitterness. Not the best but respectable and graceful.

1 of 6 in an IPA tasting - poured 4 ozs into a pint glass

Deep organge/copper color with a full sturdy white head.

Terrific hop aroma with loads of citrus.

Great combination of grapefruit, pine, grassy but some balancing maltiness.

Mouthfeel is very good...not too thin but not overly thick.

Drinkability is very solid. A great IPA.

The best of the 6 IPA's in this tasting.

Would buy this IPA again if I have the opportunity.

12oz bottle obtained via SS09 from vasdef42. Thanks for the opportunity.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/2" off-white head above the clear golden amber brew. Head recedes gradually, with stocky sheeting lace. Aroma is dominated by pungeant fresh hops, green and piney. Taste starts moderately sweet, goes piney bitter in the middle, and carries through the close to the aftertaste. Tons of hop flavor, not total bitter face. Mouthfeel is very soft and smooth, and drinkability is awesome. Get you some.

Big thanks to ArcTeryx for this beer. Devin you went far and beyond when you stopped by! Review from notes.

A- Pours a light hazed amber color with golden highlights. 1 finger white head stays for a little while before dying down. Leaves nice skirted lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- Big crisp grapefruit and pineapple notes in the front of this. Big citrusy hops clash with a nice malty bready backbone. Balance is good with this and almost reminds me of a not as fresh Pliny the Elder.

T- Big juicy citrus hops in the front! Nice light bitter undertones to this beer. A light sweetbread like malt backbone balances this out rather nicely. Hops could have been a little more evened out in the entire beer. Reminded me once again of Pliney the Elder but it's big downfall was it didn't drink smooth the entire way that PtE does. Kind of jerks you in the middle of the beer. Still this was not a terrible thing.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Left nice citrusy hops on the palate and in the aftertaste. Some resin left on the teeth and a light slickness on the tongue. Little bit of a drying finish to it. Still crisp and packed flavor.

D- This beer is wonderful. I am really glad I got to try this beer. Once again this is a beer that I will have to sadly trade for since it is not in the state yet. Hurry quickly Odell!

Multiple bottles purloined from buddy's refrigerator via Dr. Z in Arizona.

Dark amber body, 1 finger white head, slow disappation with nice lacing. Sweet malts and citrusy hops dominate the nose. The taste is pretty sweet for an IPA, nice hop profile, more citrusy than piney, with a fairly dry finish. Dangerous drinkable. One of best of Colorado IPAs, IMO.

Golden with a slight haze. My pour produces a small head that quickly fades to a thin film. A noticeable amount of carbonation with an accompanying carbonation bite. Aroma predominantly of grapefruit, but with a hint of grain. Strong hops up front with a clean middle and bitter finish.

Pours a murky amber color with two fingers of a nice sticky white head.

Scent of bitter hops and caramel initially, some maple syrup and sugars. A nice hop presence, but balanced nicely.

Taste of dank citrusy hops, earth, sugars, and some caramel. Damn good beer, I would like it more if there was a strong hop character though.

Mouthfeel is light bodied with a nice strong bite of carbonation.

Pours a clear golden color with a tight white head. Plenty of lacing left on the glass.

Smells of a big citrus hops aroma with some underlying malty bread.

Tastes of the citrus hops upfront followed by a distinctive pale malt note. The hops are nice and assertive but are still kept in check by the malts. Very well balanced even though this is an IPA.

Mouthfeel is a medium with a slightly smooth quality to it.

Exactly midway between ripe pumpkin and harvest gold. Multiple streams of lazily rising bubbles plink into the underside of a wonderful looking crown of manila colored foam. A great deal of stickiness leads to loads of lace that resembles spray-on snow on a winter windowpane.

The nose is rife with all sorts of tropical fruits. I've heard that Columbus is one member of the closely guarded hop bill. Simcoe has to be another. Specifics include ganja, pineapple, grapefruit and pine. A hint of toasted-earthy malt comes close to putting a damper on the olfactory hoedown.

The exact same thing is noted on the palate. Odell needs to either move the mall bill in a more pale direction or needs to add caramel malt (think Celebration Ale) rather than the Munich-like malts that I'm guessing are present. That's strictly personal preference, but then this is my review.

Despite 70 IBUs and a best-by date that's still more than four months into the future, this isn't a hop monster by any means. Yeah, it's definitely snappy for the style, but my socks are still firmly in place. Flavor pretty much mirrors aroma, so I won't run through the list again.

The body/mouthfeel easily keeps pace with the rest of the attributes. It's IPA-medium and has a soft and smooth quality right out of the gate. Ideal carbonation is the likely reason why.

It's hard to believe that it took me this long to taste one of Colorado's most heralded IPAs. Thank you GilGarp. Even though it doesn't quite measure up to my (possibly unfairly) high expectations, Odell IPA is quality beer that is a pleasure to drink. A beer advocate can't ask for much more than that.

Poured into the Sam Adams pint.

A - Nice golden brass color with a .5 inch head that sticks for a bit but no too long. There is some sticky lacing.

S - NICE! Grapefruit aroma with some hints of pine fill my nose. Full bodied smell if you ask me. Grapefruit sweetness a plenty as well in the nose.

T & M - Citrusy and piney. Very attractive flowery hops, with some bready biscuity malt hidden along the way. Very crisp, traditional AIPA tastes. Loving every second of the hops and malt. Nice CO2. Medium - light bodied.

D - Refreshing and excellent!

Appearance: amber in color, small head, clear, medium carbonation

Smell: toasted malt and citrusy hops

Taste: citrusy soapy hops with some faint malt

Mouthfeel: smooth, slow start with a sharp bitter finish, medium bodied

Drinkability: This is an average IPA to me. Not bad, but I could just as easily pass. The high ABV is not noticable.

A: Orange/glad. Slightly cloudy , plenty of carbonation rushing up from the bottom. Decent head and some lace

S: Some soapy floral hops and some bready malty sweetness.

T:A bit soapy and floral, but still pleasant tasting. The caramel comes through nicely as well. Fairly well balanc but some graininess.

M: Medium Bodied with some harsh hop notes.

D: Its a good beer to try but not my favorite. I could def drink plenty of these early in a night but it is not a finisher

A great IPA that's not super thick and sweet. Great full hop characteristics but with a more refreshing body.

A - full gold, proud foamy haed with lasting sticky lacing. Touch of haze
S - rich and sweet with full hop aroma. Full range of bitter to aromatic hops. Citrus oil
T - nice sweet start that quickly turns bitter. The full range of hop flavor accompanies that transition.
M - tangy finish. still a bit syrupy, but not super heavy like some IPA's.
D - real good.

Thanks mba!

Pours an amberish bright orange. Clear. Two or three inches of white foam that settles into a nice foamy rim and crust.

What a pleasant aroma! More floral than expected, with some definite lighter citrus and a bit of white grapefruit. Some pineapple in there. Brew kind of reminds a bit of Firestone Union Jack IPA in the nose, but with a bit more floral notes.

Taste bitter-er than expected. Pleasant pink and white grapefruit, some pine and earthy notes, and a nice splash of tangerine-ish-ness. What a very nice surprise.

Very drinkable, nice smooth/bubbly mouthfeel.
