Poured into my Dead Guy Ale glass.

A- Super clear pale gold color. Halfway down the glass the head dies down to a quarter inch thick. Some lacing on the glass.

S- Citrus, big hop aroma, piney, grapefruit.

T- Not to biter at all. Pretty smooth actually. Very clean taste, bell balanced. Some honey and grapefruit. Alcohol is well hidden. Pretty tasty, mellow, IPA. Kind of pricey though, 6 pack=$11. Probably won't buy again till I see it for at least $9.

D- Good drinkability

A: Red-gold with a big white head.

S: Glorious - fresh papaya, mango and grapefruit.

T: Somehow the taste just doesn't live up to that tropical smell - some pine and citrus comes through, finishing with a slightly off-putting mineral taste.

M: Slightly thin, with less carbonation than usual for an IPA.

I'm surprised by the rave reviews on here - this seemed to me to be a fairly standard IPA. Admittedly, it could be that the hops have faded across the Atlantic - when I tried their 90 shilling ale it had a similar, unappealling mineral taste and possibly in both cases this was simply due to age.

A hazy pale orange beer with an off-white head leaving lacing.

The smell is earthy and sweet and fruity, mango and grape-fruit.

Sweet and honey initially in the taste, then bitter oranges.

Medium carbonation, soft and a fairly good body.

Maybe a bit to sweet for me, but fairly well balanced. Sampled at beer tasting at De Klomp.

A: A hazy yellow pour sit inside my Bell's Tulip. A lot more viscous than I was expecting. A very nicely sized creamy head boasts a very good retention, and coats the sides of my glass nicely.

S: Piney hops up front with mango and tropical fruits underneath. The fruits provide a big sweetness, but the bitter hops provide balance and create an enticing aroma.

T: The caramel aspect of the taste is much more formidable than on the smell. Bitter, piney hops and some citrus provide a nice balance. A bit on the bitter end, but certainly not bad at all.

MF: Medium to heavy body for an IPA, carbonated very well. I was surprised by the thickness of this on the palate. Bitter and dry finish, the beer has a pretty good drinkability.

O: Nothing wrong with this. Nice balance between bitter and sweet hops. Nothing really stood out, but I wouldn't turn it down again. West Coast IPA all the way.

Poured into a tulip glass from a 12 oz bottle.

A - light copper color with about one finger of head.

S - floral, honey, oranges, but not as strong on the nose as other ipas

T - pleasantly bitter, pine, orange, wears its 7% alcohol well, bitter on the finish

M - good, not too thin, not to syrupy

D - easy to drink IPA

Look: Hazy golden amber. Short head hangs around. light carbonation.

Smell: Little Lemony. Little Piney. Little Minty.

Taste: More pine than on the nose. Sweet malts are complimented nicely by the subtle lemony citrus notes. Fairly complex and very well balanced. Not very bitter

Feel: Body is pretty close to perfect. Finishes fairly dry. a little oily.

Overall: Not a very bad everyday sixer. Don't really think it's as great as some other IPAs I've had. Can't really think of a situation I'd actively seek this one out. There are other daily sixers I'd much rather have. Maybe if I'm in Fort Collins.

Appearance
Nice tall white head; clear, light orange/yellow; minimal carbonation bubbles; head subsides quickly leaving little lacing

Aroma
Really strong here - very inviting pungent, floral hop aroma

Taste & Mouthfeel
A little thin in body, but really full on flavor; loads of fresh, tasty hops; immediately enjoyable, leaves me wanting more! Overall, really heavy on hops and light on malt - a little imbalanced for my liking; leaves a tasty, pronounced aftertaste of hops

Overall
Love the flavor, but it's a little thin overall and too imbalanced; I wish it had more malt backing to give it some weight and balance; it was enjoyable and worth trying, but I wouldn't buy it again with its steep price.

*I've had this a few times on tap now and it just blows me away how good it is. I definitely need to give the bottled version another try because, on tap, it's an A beer.*

Thanks to my friend for bringing this one back from Omaha, too! The aroma of this IPA isn't as vibrant as I'd like, but it's within the best-by date according to Odell, so it's fair game. I do get some gentle stone fruits from the hops, as well as a lot of pine. The malt profile brings some gentle caramel notes. As it opens up, the fruitier qualities pop up more vividly. Tasting it also reveals a fruitier flavor than the aroma may have suggested. I get a lot of general apricot juice at first, with a splash of grapefruit mixed in. I'm even getting some lime flavor in spurts! Despite the sweeter initial flavors - and the classically malt-laden middle - it finishes quite dry, astringent even. This goes down so easily, it's kind of crazy. I've heard some good things about this, and I'm happy to report this lives up to the hype. And to think it's so readily available in the Midwest!

3.84/5: Juicy and delicious; would be a go-to if I was west of the Mississippi

The beer poured from a bottle with barely any head, I had the bottle and the glass at 45 degree angle while pouring, so that can probably explain the lack of head.
The color is golden-orange, like so many American IPAs I have seen before, nothing special there. It's in the smell and taste department that the beer really shines. Smells a little like molasses and malt and the taste is all hops. I just took a big swig, let it swirl inside my mouth for a moment. The verdict - while it is a great tasting beer, it's by no means a session beer. The beer makes no bones about its 7% ABV and you can feel it in your breath in just the first sip.
All in all - another one in the great tradition of awesome beers from Odell's

Apperance: Pours an orange amber with a huge frothy head that sticks to the glass and sticks around as well.

Smell: Smells like an american IPA should. Piney, fruity, and delicious. Not an incredibly strong aroma though but still smells great.

Taste: Strong and piney. Finishes nice and fruity.

Overall, a great beer for any hop lover. Me personally, I tihnk I'm at the point where I need to steer away from hoppy beers for a little while

Appearance: Pours a semi-clear, bright gold. Small white head fades rather quickly but a thin lace lingers.

Aroma: Quite aggressive aroma. Pungently floral up front but I really liked the lemon, grapefruit, citrus-y flavors towards the end. Nothing but hops here.

Taste: Quite refreshing! Bitter and hoppy from the get-go but finishes light, sweet, and citrus-y. Virtually no malt flavor.

Palate: Very light-bodied, lively carbonation and a very clean mouthfeel.

Overall: Another highly drinkable IPA, I think they're finally starting to grow on me :) Great hop flavor without being annoyingly bitter. Great mouthfeel and aftertaste so I almost want to savor the flavor, but it's so light and clean I can't fight the desire to indulge.

Picked up a growler of IPA today along with some birthday gifts for friends.

Poured a redish golden color with great clarity but below-average head and retention.

Aroma is decent but not the best. I look for fresh whole hop hoppiness in an IPA... it's clean but not fresh.

The flavor is there. Lots of hop bitterness but a fair trade-off with ample malt. I give it a 4/5.

Mouthfeel is what I expect from an IPA in that it has a slightly bitter burn but not at all unpleasant. Just the right amount of carbonation.

Overall, I enjoy this beer but it's not one of Odell's best. Certainly better than the overwhelming Double IPA but I definately prefer their imperial stout, double pils, and special red. Can't wait for that red!

12 oz. bottle with kickass artwork (signature Odell!) and a best by date of 11/02/11 poured into a New Belgium globe on 08/09/11. Pours hay golden, slightly hazy, with a nice and big alabaster head; great head retention and excellent lacing!

Smells very fruity with dominantly tropical fruit notes and some grassy-weedy undertones. Very balanced and complex hop profile. Tastes smooth and slightly fruity, and while the malt backbone is felt on palate, I don't really taste the malts much. The bitterness appears most towards the back and in the finish.

Carbonation is appropriately high and the finish really dry. As remarked, goes down easy and smooth without too much bitterness. All good, except that the alcohol is rather high for this easy drinking a beer.

Appearance 5/5; Aroma 4/5; Taste 3.5/5; Mouthfeel 4/5; Overall 4/5

This beer pours a staw yellow color very cloudy with a ok head it does lace well on the glass.

The aroma is pungent earthy hops smells very fresh a slight malt enters but only slight
The beer is very smooth to star carbonation builds and leaves withabsolutly no harshness. It is sweet to start the hop taste enter but it takes a second. Once they enter they take over leaving a mild bitter on the tongue.

Appearance: Straw-gold with a pure white, cakey head ~1/2" and tons of CO2 bubbling through

Aroma: Sweet hops and citrus with touches of roasted malt.

Flavor: Big hop bitterness up front leading a syrupy and grassy sweet finish that is cloying and lingering. It seems to border on a DIPA it terms of malt backbone, but not in the mouthfeel and body. Easily drinkable without too much to weigh it down.

A: Orange/glad. Slightly cloudy , plenty of carbonation rushing up from the bottom. Decent head and some lace

S: Some soapy floral hops and some bready malty sweetness.

T:A bit soapy and floral, but still pleasant tasting. The caramel comes through nicely as well. Fairly well balanc but some graininess.

M: Medium Bodied with some harsh hop notes.

D: Its a good beer to try but not my favorite. I could def drink plenty of these early in a night but it is not a finisher

Poured light yellow amber with a very nice white head. The semll was light hops, and orange. Tasted very light going in, with a good balance of malt and hops. Very light hop kick for an IPA. This is a nice IPA. Refreshing for sure and I could imagine easy to drink more than a few.
Odell is new to Boise, and I am looking forward to some of their other styles.

Good IPA. A lot lighter in color than I expected. It has a lingering after taste, but nothing a beer drinker can't handle. Overall I was satisfied and had a few of them. A little pricey but well worth the money. I'm sure ill be having more of these in the future.

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass.

A: A medium amber orange with a one finger off white head. Not a lot of lacing.

S: Earthy hops with a fairly faint malt sweet smell.

T: Hops bitterness at first with flavors of pine, earth and some slight citrus. The mid flavors are where the malt seems to come gushing out with flavors of sweet fruits, caramel and butterscotch. Finish is bitter with the hops lingering. Nicely balanced IPA, far from a west coast syle IMO. Nothing near Pliny the Elder as I read in another review, this carries way more malt.

M: Medium to full. Chunky and course, prickly and lingering bitterness. Slight alcohol warmth.

D: Fairly good, it was easy to drink and I could have had another.

Overall a solid IPA but not a superstar in my book. Glad I tried it.

Best by (I assume) 12/1/11A

Poured into a tulip.

Very clear shiny brass color with a tall rush of white foam. Excellent lace plasters the glass.

A fairly average aroma of nondescript pine and hop bitterness with some detectable alcohol on the nose. Faint, but there, is a bit of juicy citrus.

The flavor is very traditional, with clean and even bitterness. Nice pine bough flavor which is quite soft.

The mouthfeel is clean finishing with no real lingering bitterness. Soft carbonation with some prickly alcohol.

Overall a very solid example of the style.

Odell IPA pours a hazy copper color with a nice large lacing head. There is a nice hoppy/floral aroma. The taste has a nice noticeable malty backbone, with earthy hoppy flavors. Good feel, good strong flavors. Overall, its a very earthy IPA, while enjoyable, a bit overrated.

12 oz bottle poured into a Pint glass

A- very nice yellowish orange, topped off with a little over a finger of head. Slight lacing quickly subsides.

S- light citrus, mostly lemon zest and pine

T- subtle for an IPA. I don't mean it's not hoppy, because it is. I mean nothing is out of place and overwhelming. Just like the nose, the citrus is very light, and mixed with a little pine. Sweetness isnt as strong either, which I like.

M- typical of the style, medium bodied, medium carbonation, yet, lighter and less of a sticky mouthfeel than a lot of IPAs.

O- I really enjoyed this one. Although typical in most ways, it is an easier drinking IPA, due to how light it felt, and the toned down sweetness. Not something that makes me wantto search far and wide for it, but if I saw it, inwould definitely buy some.
