Poured into a standard pint glass. The beer is a pure copper color. A frothy thick head sits on top and dissipates to a chunky film. Excellent lacing all over the glass. The beer smells so, so good. Sweet oranges mixed with grapefruit rind and bitter hops. The beer tastes as good as it smells. Again, some sweet citrus flavors such as tangerines or oranges abound, with a perfect compliment of bitter grapefruit. A nice clean, dry hop finish. The mouthfeel is clean and dry.

Overall, I'm very, very impressed with this IPA. I've seen this beer on the shelf for years, and never tried it until now. This beer is so tasty and full of aroma. The senses get overloaded with quality.

Deep amber color with a tan head. Good retention throught the entire glass. Big hops but not much malt in the nose. The taste was a bit more complex. There are of course the hops, but also some nice caramel and fruity malts. The hops bite from start to finish. Body was a little light for me, but still crisp and smooth. A good drinker with some pop.

Hazy pale amber with one finger of bone color head that lasts about ten minutes. Rings of lace.
Smell is hop resin citrus and slight leather.
Taste is rich bready malts piney resinous citrus zest .
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and well carbonated. Finish is moderately dry and bitter.
Overall a very tasty well crafted American IPA. Glad I found this beer.

Received in another great trade with BitterBill, thanks again Bill! Odell's IPA pours a crystal clear deep golden with few large carbonation bubbles rising to the surface. A dense white meringue-like head grew to one + fingers on the pour. After a few minutes the head fell to a skimming with a thick ring and solid lacing. A good looking IPA!

This is an inviting, delicious smelling IPA! There is a lot of citrus in the nose, lemon and orange mostly, in that order of intensity. There's even some spruce needle hoppiness in there all over a foundation of pale maltiness. The smell of this IPA reminds me of a milder Hop Wallop.

The flavor doesn't quite live up to the aroma but is good none the less. Big notes of the lemon and orange the nose suggested along with a unique peppery spiciness. The spruce comes through on the swallow and provides the bitterness. Al this over a barely noticeable malt base which is just the way I like things.

The mouthfeel of this beer is just about perfect its medium bodied, soft and creamy on the tongue. The lack of carbonation lets this beer glide through slowly and allows the hoppiness to shine.

This beer is going down far too easily! I could easily and enjoyably put away a few of these in a sitting.

This is my first sampling from Odell and not my last. I'm very impressed with this IPA. It doesn't fall into the cookie cutter mold like so many other brewers do. Too bad this isn't available locally; it would be a constant in my fridge. Thanks for the taste Bill!

Golden color with a one finger bright white head with good retention and it leaves beautiful lacing all the way down the glass.. Smells of grapefruit, oranges, pineapple, mango, and pine. Very nice.

The taste is just like the aroma. Sweetness and bitterness combine beautifully. There is also a light amount of hop oil flavor. I usually taste this type of flavor more in a DIPA than an IPA. Very impressive.

Medium bodied, nice carbonation, and a real treat to drink. Finishes somewhat dry with a sweet aftertaste. I will definitely buy this one again.

Review adapted from notes taken 7/19/11 and 8/29/11

Appearance: A clear, nice orange with a golden glow - very pretty - a little white head, fades quick, leaves above-average lacing

Smell: In a word, excellent - very west coast - tropical aromas with pineapple, oranges, grapefruits, and some pine - some dank, herbal weediness (especially as it warms) - base of sweet, pale malts seem like they add balance

Taste: Very citrusy and tropical, and almost balanced - fantastic hop profile with pineapple, mango, orange, and tangerine flavors - juicy and fresh - decidedly bitter, but not extreme - the malt profile does not fully balance this hop assault, but it provides a nice backbone with some sweetness and breadiness

Mouthfeel: Very smooth, adequately carbonated, medium bodied

Overall: One of my favorite American IPAs

In my book, this is a top tier IPA among the ranks of Bell's Two Hearted and Russian River Blind Pig. I love the hop profile and the attempt at balance. This is excellent fresh, but it loses some magic over time. I wish I could get this more often.

A-Pours a hazy golden peach with a very small amount of head and lacing.

S-Wow! Lots of grapefruit hops with strong peach notes underneath. Awesome!

T-Not as good as the nose but still quite nice. Some malt sweetness in the front, grapefruit hoppy bitterness taking over in the middle and finishing a bit sweet with the hops.

M-Excellent. Medium bodied with excellent moderate carbonation, slightly resinous but still light.

D-Damn but I wish I had easy access to this beer, instead of the one beer that I got in trade. One of the most drinkable IPAs I have had. Ever.
