Pours a cinnamon gold in color with a thick head and hearty lacing. This beer looks awesome in color. Smells of malty hops and some pine. Tastes exceptional, I was taken back how good it was. Very nice malty sweetness with a good hit of hops, dryness, and light citrus. A thick beer with a medium feel, this is a a great IPA, very happy with this one!!

Dark copper reddish brown.
Creamy lasting head.
Aroma is nice but not prominent.
Definitely malty, but hoppy bitterness finish.
Medium carbonation.
Nice hoppy beer for a cool spring day.

This beer pours a clear red amber with a solid head. The aroma is very pungent, with grapefruit, mango, papaya, guava, and pine. The flavor features lots of grapefruit pith, pine, papaya, slight malt sweetness, and pronounce bitterness. The mouthfeel is full bodied with rich, foamy carbonation. Overall this is a truly delicious red ale, with great malt and hop tension.

Appearance: Hazy amber glass holds a firm cover of tan foam that laces.

Aroma: Sweet crystal malt base holds a pine and citric hop punch.

Taste: Hops are a little low for my tastes, but a Red IPA should be a bit sweeter as this is. Drinks like an APA, citric notes, sweet bready undertone, all balances out pretty nicely.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, frothy texture, clean finish.

Overall: Tasty. I'm not a huge Red IPA fan, and I don't see getting another but this is well made and enjoyable.

Pours a brownish amber red with a touch of chill haze but otherwise clear with a nice two finger plump head of light brownish-red foam.

Nice and welcoming sweet biscuits, caramel, and toffee accompany notes of pine and subtle citrus notes.

The caramel and bready notes from the firm malt backbone provide just enough sweetness, but does not overpower the hop addition, lending notes of citrus, grass, and pine.

Light-medium bodied, medium-high carbonation, crisp, balanced.

Overall, while I'm not generally a fan of amber ales due to the styles usual subtlety, but I was thorough pleased with this brew. It's greatly balanced and is almost too easy drinking.

12oz bottle, best enjoyed by 5/9/17
A - tall khaki head leaves thick lacing down the glass as it fades atop a reddish-brown hued ale; just gorgeous!
S - caramel malt, bread, and orangey citrus fill the nose
T - big malt backbone of grain, caramel, toffee, and bread crust with a bitter hop bite of orange zest & pine, and a hint of tropical mango and passion fruit
M - medium body, resinous, finishes moderately bitter and semi-dry
O - I love all things Odell, and this is no exception. This is great!

Gorgeous bottle and gorgeous beer. The flavor is great, tons of caramel maltiness balanced perfectly with hops. Sweet and bitter. Odell stuns me once again.

L: Pours a brilliant crimson red with a large creamy head that dissipates a little quickly, but leaves about half an inch layer on top. A very enticing looking beer.

S: Strong notes of pine mixed with notes of grapefruit, notes of pine sap and a little floral hop. Some grassy and sweet malt in the background. Smells exactly like I like my red IPAs to smell.

T: A strong piney bitterness leads off and coats the tongue, notes of grapefruit wrap around the pine, with some notes of floral hops in the background. A sweet somewhat earthy malt in the background.

F: Creamy feel with a medium to heavier body.

O: I love this red IPA, very pine and tree sappy with a few notes of fruit. I've loved this beer when it was still just called Odell Red Ale and it still never lets me down.

Look: Somewhat cloudy, red-orange with a light khaki-colored head.

Smell: Hops and hints of citrus, malts, and pine.

Taste: Sort of bittersweet all throughout. It has the usual bitter aftertaste of an IPA, but with added hints of pleasant citrus.

Feel: Normal mouthfeel, dry aftertaste.

Overall: This is an excellent IPA!

A beautiful deep red up to the light with a finger of white soapy head that slowly fades to a ring. Mild lacing and nice carbonation effect when I tilt the glass. It smells like sweet juicy grapefruit, biscuity malt, and has a nice piney scent. Nice bitterness just into the swig and then the sweet malt and citrus take over. The bitterness lingers, but overall very mild. The hops come through nicely, but this beer is superbly balanced between sweet and bitter. A bit creamy up front, medium body, average carbonation, and dry on the finish. Just a really pleasant brew. I could drink this frequently.

A beautiful, clear reddish brown beer. There is an off white to light tan head that leaves a wide curtain off lacing. The aroma is malty and piny with some nice floral notes. The taste is sweet malt, pine and grapefruit notes. Very tasty beer.

Poured from 12oz bottle into pub style glass. Nice pour, a very deep brown with a nice red tint, slightly cloudy. Pours a big fluffy head that sticks to the glass. Not an impressive aroma, but certainly not offputting; actually smells a bit sweet, maybe slightly floral, with some maltiness. Very nice taste, a slight hint of tropical tartness with a very nice bitter hop balance. Ends with a bit of toastiness. Nicely carbonated and very smooth. Overall a very nice and drinkable beer!

One of my favorite beers, and a reason Odell is one of my favorite breweries. Gorgeous red brown color, slightly cloudy. Beautiful creamy foamy head, great lacing. Nice sweet smell, taste is malty, a bit sweet, but well balanced with hops. I love red ales, and this is a favorite.

Appearance: Deep amber, with an average head of off-white suds. Minimal but lovely lines of lace.

Aroma: Rich and appealing tropical hops — fruity and citrusy. In fact, I get lots of fruit here, which certainly isn’t a bad thing.

Taste: Packed with bitter pine and sour grapefruit hops, a little prickly, with a solid malt backbone to support the hops. Really a perfectly formed red IPA, delicious and as good as it gets.

L- chestnut-red with white head
S- hoppiness doesn't overpower as often happens in an IPA. Malt is detectable with a little sweetness provided by subtle dried fruit.
T- Hops with a pine-like flavor are definitely the main flavor profile but sweetness from strong honey notes is highly apparent and maltiness comes through. The aftertaste is a classic hop bitterness.
F-medium bodied with a nice carbonation-filled mouth feel.
O- A surprising flavor for an IPA. This beer decides not to overwhelm the palate with hops and go for a more balanced approach. making it more of an ale than an IPA.

It's got an odd sort of combination of both pine and citrus, maybe an orange or lemon. It's consistency is a bit runny, but it's not terrible by any means.

Aroma is malts, spices, a hint of sugar and very dank notes. The flavor is spices, slight vegetables, slight sweetness, grapefruit, malts and a mix of bitter and slight heat in the finish.

Bottle poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours gorgeous deep reddish amber with a frothy tan head that settles to a light layer and leaves some very nice lacing.

S: Toasty bready malt, a bit floral and fruity, pine, and a little toffee sweetness.

T: Bready malts, toasty, even a bit roasty, citrus, orange and a little grapefruit, pine, faintly herbal, and a little toffee sweetness.

M: A bit on the fuller end of medium body, mild carbonation, smooth and a little creamy.

O: Nicely balanced, but for a red IPA I was hoping the hops would jump out a little more. My bottle is well within the enjoy by date, but I would love to see what it's like super fresh. As it stands, still an enjoyable beer.

I've become a fan of black IPAs and now I'm really digging the red IPAs. I am a fan of Ambers and this beer has everything you like about ambers. Nice malt flavor mixed with the generous hoppy citrus/resin flavors meld well together. Nice deep Amber pour and a good mouthfeel. Nice beer

Red IPA. not to be mean. But weak knees compared to Odell's regular IPA. this red seasonal is good, not phenomenal and rich like Odell IPA, or great with a kick Mercenary. Good beer. For the same price I can drink. Too light for my taste compared to Odell's other masterfull IPA, not citrusy bright, and refreshing such as Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA, or Stone's Delicious IPA. A beer not to turn down if offered it tastes good, but I will buy these others before I ever purchase this again.

Great seasonal beer for Odell that I just randomly picked out when standing @ the store. Definitely pours like its name reddish orange. It didn't taste like your typical IPA to me, being sweet w/ a mild bitter after taste. Would definitely scoop up again for the Spring season. Good work!

More people buy IPAs than other beers.....but that's no reason to call an Amber Ale an IPA. I notice in the accompanying photo that it USED TO BE called Red Ale...nuff said.

This is a very good Amber ale.....sweet, very malt-forward, nice deep red color....Caramel and Munich malts for sure. No evidence of much of any hops. Not too heavy, sessionable.

So it's just NOT an IPA. Go back to the correct category, and sell it that way. There's no shame in making a very good, full-body, winter brew.

A reddish-gold pour, slightly hazy with a solid head leaving nice lacing. Aroma background of the piney hops, with notes of malt ... Is there any rye there? Nice malt forward, with the hops bitterness coming in later, in pale ale style. So, I'm questioning why the label states "Red IPA", but that's Odell's choice, not mine. A little sweetness on the front end and dryness on the back is a great balance. They nailed this one.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, "best by" date 5-6-16.

APPEARANCE: pours a beautiful ruby color with small suspended sediments floating about, one-finger off-white head that eventually dissipated leaving a thin, unbroken layer of small bubbles, significant lacing on the glass, medium carbonation.

SMELL: bread, caramel, slight roasted note and somewhat flowery.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet caramel and a roasted note, bread then a mild piney hop profile.

PALATE: medium body and carbonation.

OVERALL: this is a solid beer, I enjoyed it and would buy it again, the roasted noted are subtle and the hops are subtle but it works, I would recommend to anyone who enjoys the style.

Pretty solid beer - I like the smell. Just a hint of malts and some fruit, maybe grapes. The taste is very balanced - I especially like how the malt balances with the fruit. Nothing sticks out but overall it's very enjoyable.
