12 oz bottle poured into a shaker pint. Inch of light tan head. Quick to recede, but leaves a solid sticky lace on the way down. Color is a dark and clear coppery red.

Smell is very hoppy. Fruity citrus and wood resin. Mildly sweet malt is hinted at. Taste is initially sweet and tart citrus with a little piny. The malt character doesn't quite balance out the hops. As it warms there is a little more balance. Finishes with a wood resin aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is surprisingly creamy with a solid body. Carbonation is prickly at times. Not really what I was expecting in a red ale. Not bad, just took me by surprise.

A: Clear red with great retention and lacing.

S: Citric, piney, resinous hops and a touch of sweet malt.

T: Follows the nose. Hops with a good malt presence and a decent finish. Well balanced, but I wonder if the hops pop more when it's very fresh

M: Medium without too much carbonation.

O: This is a flavorful yet balanced and drinkable beer, but at 6.5% abv, I expect a bit more.

Dark ginger and cloud depths with a slight off white hat of bubbs...

The aroma brings some fruit to the nose, peaches dance with figs, citrus grapefruit mostly though, some pine hops character, nice and aromatic

Hops hit the palate in a medium strength struggle with the malts; a decent balance. Deeper down I can get some pine on the back of my tongue, nice. A little viney.

Light medium body with an interesting mixed bubble carbonation.

I would recommend this as a good red, not fantastic, but good. Odell's does a decent job most times and this fits that category. If they could boost the flavors I would be a huge fan.

Thanks to sleepnbballrlife for sharing this.

12oz pry-top brown glass bottle. Label stamped 7/8/10.

Appearance: Cherry wood red. Some very thin tan head.

Nose: Smells like dried shag outdoor Mexican weed. Grapefruit and dried hardwood boards.

Palate: A little watery and much maltier than I was expecting. Some dried grain flavors and a little bittersweet chocolate and lots of woody notes. Tastes like licking hardwood boards. Some hop notes flare up on the second sip.

Notes: One of the better Red Ales I've had. Definitely American with the sticky weed hops, but true to style with the roasty malts too.

So far this brewery hasn't dissappointed.
Nice amber color with dark red with brown and gold. Initially smaller head, but great stamina that at about 1/2 way began to show markings with each drink.
Complex hop aroma with some citrus and some flowery quality. Apparent malt background.
Flavor matches aroma in complexity of hop profile. Malt backing more apparent and hints at some sweetness. Adequately dry finish.
Some creaminess from head shows in flavor. Moderately light body.
This is good, but not quite as impressive as the others I've had. I've noted that some hoppy beers fit the winter and others the summer, and I think this fits the later better (for some reason).

Purchased 6pk from Odell Brewing Co. in Ft. Collins, CO

We split the beer & poured into a Chimay glass about 1 finger of head and a Tulip glass almost 2 fingers. Head color was of burnt marshmallow

Aroma: Citrus hops, slight sweetness

Color: Mahogany, glows light ruby in the light

Clarity: pretty clear, no sedimentation, looks gorgeous

Carbonation: very light carbonation

Mouthfeel: Medium body, bubbly when moved around

Taste: Very hoppy for a red, well balanced leaning toward the hop, slightly sweet malt character, lingering hop drying effect.

Overall it tastes like a hoppy pale with a well balanced malt character. I think this is a drrrn good beer. Very drinkable, reasonably complex.

A: Slightly hazy amber, frothy light tan head. Clumpy, sticky lacing down the glass.

S: Clean, sweet malt smell. Traces of pine and slight nuttiness. Nice smell...

T: Dry, slighty acidic malt taste but hops outbalance it right away. Hop flavor is pleasant, very woodsy/pine, hop oil. I really like the malt sweetness I get, but the hop flavors pretty much make the taste of this beer.

M: I like the body, smooth mouthfeel, not too carbonated.

D: Pretty hoppy for the typical red ale, but pretty easy to drink. Bought a six pack of this stuff, and I will easily be able to finish it off.

It's got an odd sort of combination of both pine and citrus, maybe an orange or lemon. It's consistency is a bit runny, but it's not terrible by any means.

Poured into pint...

A: That goat looks pretty satanic. Pours with a 1 finger crown of frothy tan head above a beautifully transparent mahogany base. leaves alot of spotty lacing

S: smells sweet with aromas of belgian candy sugar, beet jam (like the stuff served at Thanksgiving dinner), bread pudding, pine needle, and caramelized oranges. Also has a spicy, baked apple aroma

T: earthy flavors of pine and caramelized grapefruit upfront with a somewhat suddued caramel maltiness when compared with the nose. finishes with a dry, minerally bread dough finish, also slightly soapy, with bitter and spicy hops lasting long into the finish

M: Medium-full body, low carbonation makes this one very slick and slippery, finishing just off dry

Overall, A fairly well put together american amber ale. The 6.5 abv is very well covered and doesn't hinder the drinkability whatsoever. It doesn't stray far for the style, however, It could use more aromatic hops in the nose and more carbonation. Still, worth a try.

Picked this one up at the COOP today.. the brew pours a clear reddish/amber... decent off white head with okay lacing and retention.

Nose is good toasty malt and light caramel.. orange zest hoppiness..

Very nice hoppy American amber... all elements punch out and still meld well... great citrus zest.. sorta pithy... sorta dry with a great malt profile.. bits of caramel and nice dry toast... very balanced.

Body is medium/light with appropriate carbonation.. long toasty finish with tangerine zest.

The Runoff is a very nice amber....easy to drink and enough hops to make it interesting. It poured a rich amber with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. There is not much to smell...some bread and hop notes. The taste is evenly balanced but finishes with a slight bitter crispness. There is some sweet caramel and bread base with light hop top. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid offering.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

A nice amber red color holds a cream colored head that retains well and leaves good lacing. The nose is hit with woody spices, earth notes, and hops. The beer tastes earthy and woody up front. Some subtle toffee sweetness mingles in before a citric, bitter hop finish. Mouthfeel is medium in weight. Overall, I'm overwhelmed with the hops and lack of malty caramel tones.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, "best by" date 5-6-16.

APPEARANCE: pours a beautiful ruby color with small suspended sediments floating about, one-finger off-white head that eventually dissipated leaving a thin, unbroken layer of small bubbles, significant lacing on the glass, medium carbonation.

SMELL: bread, caramel, slight roasted note and somewhat flowery.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet caramel and a roasted note, bread then a mild piney hop profile.

PALATE: medium body and carbonation.

OVERALL: this is a solid beer, I enjoyed it and would buy it again, the roasted noted are subtle and the hops are subtle but it works, I would recommend to anyone who enjoys the style.

Presentation: Bottle 120z. dark

Appearance: A dark-brown red with a deep golden hue. Thick two finger head with semi quick fading retention.

Smell: Roasty malts surrounded by full and strong hops. Faint notes of peanut and bread.

Taste: Round hops profile. Very favorful hops with a cean finish and quick fading after taste.

Mouthfeel: Actually quite bubbly and a little thin. Could use a little more viscosity.

Drinkable: Very drinkable. 6 packs are perfect.

Note: The mouthfeel may have been affected by bad handling in shipping or by the store, but I have had at least 12-15 of thee beers.

Props to chugalug06 for sharing this with me as an extra. Thanks Geoff!

Pour is a reddish copper with a thin head that dissipates quickly. Lacing is almost non-existent. Nose has some deep malt/breadiness to it.

I'm not much for ambers/reds, and the first taste is a pleasant surprise. Nice and light, great carbonation across the tongue, some drying hop bitterness across an otherwise sweet finish. Didn't take long for me to finish this one, and wish I had a couple more on hand.

A nearly clear, red-tinted amber body with a smallish white head that settles down fairly quickly. Spotty lacing.

Nice enough aroma, citrus hops and caramel malt well balanced. Touches of pineapple, grapefruit, pine resins. Flavor follows suit, prominent hoppiness (again mostly citrus with subtle pine notes) offset by moderately sweet caramel malt.

Body is medium as is the carbonation. A bit creamy, with a dry finish and a little bit of lingering bitterness in the aftertaste.

Another nice hoppy beer from Odell; this one, along with Lagunitas' Imperial Red (and others) seem to be retorts to the wild success of Troegs' Nugget Nectar. Not quite as good as the original but pretty damn tasty. I am continually impressed with the quality of Odell's beers.

Serving type: Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a New Belgium balloon glass.

A: Red pours a crystal clear, deep crimson to mahogany color with a cream-hued two-finger thick head. Retention is excellent, and lacing clings to the glass with ease.

S: Slightly faint on the nose at first. Herbal hop aromas with hints of caramel and toast lingering in the backround.

T: Fruity hop character and sweet malt balance eachother out nicely. Flavors of caramel and fresh toast make a good backbone, supported by earthy, floral hop characters. The dry finish makes for a very clean brew, with notes of pine and citrus.

Notes: This beer is very tasty, and quite easy to drink. If I had one complaint, it would be in the mouthfeel. It's just a bit on the lighter side for the style. Overall, a pretty rock-solid effort by the folks at Odell.

Aroma is malts, spices, a hint of sugar and very dank notes. The flavor is spices, slight vegetables, slight sweetness, grapefruit, malts and a mix of bitter and slight heat in the finish.

A: Clear and red; one finger head that dissipates to a 1/2 finger head--great retention once it gets there; great lacing

S: Fresh hop leaves up front: grapefruit mostly; it's a subtle hop presence but it is would permeates the most

T: There is much more going on in the flavors than in the aroma; there is also a nice malt balance underneath the hops

F: Mouthfeel is good with even coating; carbonation is under control as well

D: A very drinkable and nicely hoped brew; another great offering from the guys at Odell

Poured from 12oz bottle into pub style glass. Nice pour, a very deep brown with a nice red tint, slightly cloudy. Pours a big fluffy head that sticks to the glass. Not an impressive aroma, but certainly not offputting; actually smells a bit sweet, maybe slightly floral, with some maltiness. Very nice taste, a slight hint of tropical tartness with a very nice bitter hop balance. Ends with a bit of toastiness. Nicely carbonated and very smooth. Overall a very nice and drinkable beer!

A good, easy drinking Red. Nice hop flavor, certainly not overpowering.

This would be a good gateway beer for those willing to try a new style. Well done Odell.

Appearance: Red, clear liquid with an off-white, foamy head.

Smell: Light grapefruit hop over a caramel-honey malt.

Taste: Citric grapefruit and resinous bitterness right up front but then quite bready with lightly toasted, lighty sweet malt. A parting shot of hops give a slightly bitter and drying finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-full bodied and slightly crisp from carbonation.

Drinkability: There is a healthy dose of hop here that's restrained in a good way by the malt. Starts hoppy, gets slightly malty-caramelly sweet in the middle and finishes slightly bitter and dry. Keeps the palate fresh and it's both enjoyable and easy to drink.

A reddish-gold pour, slightly hazy with a solid head leaving nice lacing. Aroma background of the piney hops, with notes of malt ... Is there any rye there? Nice malt forward, with the hops bitterness coming in later, in pale ale style. So, I'm questioning why the label states "Red IPA", but that's Odell's choice, not mine. A little sweetness on the front end and dryness on the back is a great balance. They nailed this one.

This poured out as a beautiful clear red color with a cream colored head on top. The lacing is good as well as the retention. The smell of the beer has a really nice hoppy pine aroma coming off of it with a slight sweet toasted aroma in there too,. The taste of the beer is moderately sweet up front with a very nice bitter finish. The mouthfeel is sharp but remains highly drinkable. Good carbonation and body. Overall it's a very good brew. Really enjoy this one.

A: Two finger light beige head on a mahogany body. Full head sticks around for about three minutes then leaves a cap and collar. Wonderful lacing around the sides of the tulip.

S: Deep hop aromas, juicy orange/citrus.

T: Hops do not present itself as the nose would like you to believe. blanaced malt to hop presence, all somewhat subdued. Shows no signs of alochol.

M: Medium mouthfeel, medium to medium-low carbonation for the style.

D/O: Very well balanced, it's biggest attribute. Drinkability high.
