Appearance: Hazy, dark golden in color. Thin head of foam. Fair amount of lacing.

Smell: Big grapefruit, citrus. Very hoppy.

Taste: Hops right up front. Light bitterness, and the bitterness waits until the very end. Nice! Citrus fruit flavors. Not much malt. Rather dry.

Mouthfeel: Love the mouthfeel. Gently fizzy carbonation that leaves a little tingling in the mouth.

Drinkability: Quite drinkable. Hop taste makes it very refreshing, at least for a hops lover.

Hazy amber colour, with an off white head. Very small bubbles clinging to the glass throughout.
Citrus hop aroma as expected but not too powerful.
Very nice taste, quite alot of malt. Seems true to what I have read about the style.
Some hops showing through but not to over powering, hints of satsuma, grapefruit and pineapple.
Overall very drinkable but still holds my interest.

Had at The Café, Ames, IA. Pours a honey-orange hue, clear, with moderate 2-finger cream colored head. Aroma is assertive, pleasing, citrus and floral hops, noticeable even before pouring from the bottle. Flavor follows suit, with very fragrant citrus and floral notes, even ginger-like spice, bitterness is pleasingly balanced with mildly sweet malt. Feel is refreshing with moderate carbonation, clean finish, alcohol seems less assertive than the IBV would predict. Overall, a delicious and refreshing Pale Ale, which paired very well with the grilled salmon I was having, and one I would love to have any time it is available!

Pours a pale golden orange color. A finger width of head dissipates quickly. Modest Lacing. Aroma is great. Nose is slightly floral with grapefruit, orange, and peach. Taste is full of hoppy fruitiness with a nice clean bitter hop finish. Just a great hoppy fruity flavor throughout. Mouthfeel is great with the perfect amount of carbonation. This beer is fantastic and I highly recommend it.

A - Straw yellow with a white head. Some lacing sticks to the glass. Steady light carbonation moves through the glass.

S - Citrus and wet hoppy. Grapefruit and orange with some grassy herbal hops.

T - Kinda mellow, but every aspect of the nose is there in the taste. Citrus up front, maybe smoothed by pear and/or lemon. Plenty of hops, but not overwhelming. Like an IPA but so much more drinkable!

M - the hops kind of dance on your taste buds after the sip. Hop characteristics aren't too strong. Somewhat thin mouthfeel. It's has a slightly oily feel. carbonation feels right for the weight of the beer. It's light and crisp.

D - very easy drinking. I can tell already that the 6pack I just bought this afternoon won't be around tomorrow! Really good and I'll have to get more! Excellent for a hot day! YUM!

Golden in color with a thick white head. Laces well.

Nice floral citrus hops on the nose with a touch of caramel malt.

Hops greet you right up front with a large dose of grapefruit and a touch of pine. There's a bit of some spice in there with a grainy malt rounding it out.

Medium to light mouthfeel with a fine but generous carbonation.

Odell's knows how to make an enjoyable beer, and this is one of my new favorites. Crisp and refreshing, borderline IPA, but not too overwhelming on the ABV to be hard to put down a few.

Golden straw in color with a white foam head.
Green, grassy and floral in the nose. Really resinous with some bright grapefruit. So far, it delivers on the hoppy promise in the name, as lupulin glands are what hold the hop oils and resins.
Throughout there is a great hop flavor with a subtle malt backbone. Pleasant floral hop notes with grapefruit shining through that lends to a somewhat sweet malty, but bitter finish.
Light to medium body with bright flavors. The carbonation level adds to make it a really refreshing drink as it is a summer seasonal.

I was lucky to pick some of this up in SD when I was there last.

A: Light orange-yellow color. Crisp white head sits atop. Plentiful carbonation.

S: Very aromatic for an APA. Great citrus notes followed by a subtle fruitiness. A hint of pine in there too, but really dominated by citrus. I am suprised with the aroma.

T: Beautiful flavors for an APA. The hops are solid with more of that citrus flavor balanced out by some fruitiness. There is a faint, honey like sweetness that builds to a light malt backbone. Just enough sweetness to balance the hops. Citrus doesn't explain the hop profile well enough. There are grapefruit, orange and tangerines represented here. Very flavorful.

M: Light bodied and very crisp. Finishes slightly bitter, but it doesn't linger.

D: This is a great APA. Definitely a must try. The beer is suprisingly light for the amount of flavor it packs. I wish it wasn't so damn expensive. I'll pay it though.

Poured into a balloon glass. The beer is an every so slightly hazy light copper. A slightly faded white head dissipates to some bubbles and random film. Loads of sticky lacing. The beer smells balanced, bright hops, but at the same time a mellow malt aroma. The taste is certainly sharp. There's obviously a bright clean bitterness where grapefruit and lemon peel come to mind, but then there's a good malt presence that keeps this beer balanced. I can almost even go so far as to taste a biscuit note, but the hops really do dominate most of the flavor profile. The mouthfeel is medium bodied.

Overall, a good beer, this one. The balance of malts and hops is good, but weighing on the hoppy side for sure. The finish is really bitter, but the experience is a good one.

Looks damn good. Light amber. Thin lace.

Smell as the first thing to hit me. Literally as soon as the cap cracked, before it was even off, I could smell this ale. Floral, and piney.

Tastes great. Definite hop presence and bitterness, but not overwhelming. Quintessential APA. Goes down WAY too smooth for such a high ABV. Crisp, buttery crack taste that unfolds into floral and piney sensations on the palate.

Feels so smooth, like fizzy silk on my tongue.

Damn fine job, Odell. Cheers!

A - Awesome head pour! Very aggressive... Brew is nice clear golden color whlie head is white. Nice stream of bubbles rising. Awesome lacing too.

S - Very nice smooth citrus scent. Smells slightly bitter. Lots of pine and earthy tones. Great pineapple and grapefruit scent.

T - Slight grassy flavor. Bitter, but not overly. Awesome smooth hops. Very smooth and well balanced. Awesome complexion of citrus flavor.

M - Light bodied with elegant bitterness. Perfect carbonation. Great flavor spread.

O - Awesome seasonal ale from Odell. Great job once again Odell... I could drink this one all summer long!

Pours a light golden yellow with a thumbs width white head. Nice lacing. A sweet, floral and citric aroma. At first you smell the rind of the clementine, afterwards the actual fruit shows itself to give it some sweet juiciness. A wonderfully layered flavor profile to this, moreso than the aroma had led me to expect. Some clementine and lemon, some grass, some florals, on top a bready, even slightly biscuity, malt foundation. A crisp and silky medium body with some decent activity to it making it very drinkable. Overall, Odell does it again with another great and unique beer. Very bright and refreshing, will make for a great summer beer. I was bummed to see Red leave the shelves but after trying this it softens the blow just a touch.

12 ounce bottle... best by date of 9/28/11 on the label.

Wow I believe we have a new favorite summer beer. Holy moly this stuff is good!

A - Very clear golden, dark yellow - a significant frothy white 2 finger head. Significant sticky lacing all the way down.

S - Mmmm good... wonderful mix of sweet malts and bittering hops. The dry hopping did wonders for this beer. Some fruity notes in the nose - perhaps pineapple / orange / grapefruit. Also some some pine in the hop character. Close to an IPA, but not quite as bitter.

T & M - Very smooth and nicely carbonated. Hides the 6.5% alcohol very well. Great beer to crack open and enjoy on a hot summer day. Taste similar to smell - like a pale ale on steroids.

Overall - a fantastic summer beer. I continue to be impressed with O'Dell. They are definitely one of my favorite breweries.

This is Odell's new summer seasonal. It's labeled as an "Extra Pale Ale" but could easily be mistaken for an American IPA. I really appreciate Odell for not going the usual route of mild wheat or light beer for summer. This is a great hoppy beer that would be good no matter what the weather.

Pours a pale golden yellow color with slightly hazy clarity and fine white head. Some lacing is left behind

Aroma is nicely dry hopped with a great citrus and floral notes.

Flavor is exceptional and as good or better than most west coast IPAs. Lots of grapefruit and orange. Good level of sweetness keeps the bitter in check.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice level of carbonation. Not too heavy but certainly not too light either.

Overall it's another great beer from Odell and an outstanding summer seasonal.

A: Poured a golden yellowish color with a 1 finger white head, retention was decent, left some lacing.

S: Flowery, sweet, grassy, hoppy, citrus, smells great.

T: Fantastic. Grapefruit with some lemon and an orange note, a hint of herbs, then the hops come through but its not a bitter taste at all, very refreshing and clean finish. Love it.

M: Light to medium bodied, perfect carbonation.

D: Extremely drinkable especially at 6.5%. A wonderful new release from Odell's, my new favorite summer brew. Well done!

Poured from the bottle a clear copper-orange with a thin bright white head.

Bright aroma of fresh oranges, grapefruit, and pine.

The taste is much like the aroma. Big on the oranges, grapefruit, and pine. Very crisp for a summer evening.

Light-to-medium bodied, crisp, and moderately carbonated.

A quality seasonal from the folks at Odell. I'm always a sucker for a citrusy IPA.

Pours a clear, golden color. One inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of strong hops, earthy malt, and hop oil. Very strong and good aroma. Fits the style of an American Pale Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and thick with a low carbonation level. Tastes of floral hop oil and slight earthy malt. Overall, a great appearance, aroma, and body - though it does lack in complexity.

A-Dark golden with no haze at all. Short lived 3/4 inch thick head with thick yet short lived soapy lacing.

S-Citrus and Floral hop aromas up front. Grassy sweetness present as well. An almost sour citrus note. No malt scent until beer warmed up.

T-Citrus notes dominate with a very slight malt sweetnes in the distant background. Not very bitter but very hoppy. As it warmed the biscuity malt shined through more but the hops still dominated.

M-Soft and welcoming. Short lived after taste. Delightfully crisp. Softer as it warmed which I was pleasantly surprised about.

D-Absolutely Delightful. A great summer beer. Good for those not looking for bitter but still want refreshing. Will be picking up at least another 2 six packs. Cost is not terribly low though at 10.99 yet well worth it in my opinion. Especially compared to other 6 packs in that price range around here.

Poured a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A pale golden yellow beer with a half inch of head. Some lacing was seen during the session.
The aroma was rich with bitter citrus.
The taste was rich with grapefruit flavored hops. I felt a bit of the alcohol.
A very nice beer. I bought this in Kansas City and wish I could get more.

The first to last swallow is crisp and refreshing as expected from an extra pale ale. The hops are mild hops but there are lots of them. A hint of sweetness, almost red aleish. Clean aftertaste. Fetching label provides an eye-taste of what's inside. Perfect for après mountain bike exhaustion.

Beer pours orange with a little bit of cloudiness. I would imagine that this is form dry-hopping. A small but sticky head is present.

The aroma of this beer is magnificent. The beer is full of citrus and pine. Notes of grapefruit, just a whole cornucopia of wonderful hop aromas. No malt aromas are really present.

The beer has a light hint of malt with a hoppy finish. Not really bitter. Just enough hops to really clean the palate after each drink. The beer really leaves you wanting another sip after the previous.

The mouthfeel is medium.

Overall this is an excellent beer. The hop aroma and smooth hoppy finish just make this such a real treat. The beer is light enough that you can session them and the hops are tame enough that the beer lets you.

Pours a clear golden color with a thick bubbly two finger head.

Smell is a good citrus hops, some light bready malts in there as well. The hop aroma here is awesome, floral, citrus, pine and more.

Taste is great, nice bready malt flavor with some citrus hops shine through up front. Tons of hop flavors go together very well. This is a terrific APA, very well done. Perfectly refreshing summer beer for any hop lover.

Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with medium carbonation.

Very drinkable beer, terrific APA, lots of great hop flavors.

Appearance: Pours a clear, pale reddish orange with three fingers of off white foam that clings to the glass.

Smell: Light musty citrus (tangerine/apricot) and a little bit of bright lemon. Some earthiness along with a little bit of sweet malt. Mild and pleasant.

Taste: Pine and lemon citrus zest with notes of floral and honey. Bready/caramel malt backbone and a nutty finish. Nicely balanced with a clean hop bite.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, crisp and clean with good carbonation.

Overall, St. Lupulin is another wonderfully crafted beer by Colorado's Odell Brewing Co. This is exactly what an APA should be. Flavorful, balanced, and refreshing. A perfect summer seasonal. This tasted great relaxing on the front porch at sunset after mowing the lawn.

A: Deep straw gold color. Poured a 2 finger coarse white head with fair retention to a half finger cap. Decanted continually. Lots of lacing with some washing down the glass.

S: Citrus. grapefruit and pine hops. Orange and grass as the beer warmed. Plenty of floral hops.

T: Very consistent with smell; overall, muted flavors very well balanced. Citrus is most prominent up front with lemon and light-colored fruits in the foundation. Resiny hops in the middle followed by a sharply bittering finish!

M: Light side of medium body. Ample carbonation. Smooth and coating in the middle with a sharp bitter to balance a crisp finish. Very refreshing APA.

D: Very easy to drink. Good sessionable APA; flavorful, balanced.

12 oz bottle.

A: Gorgeously gold colored with a thin head that dissipates into lace around the glass fairly quickly

S: Strong resiny, oily hop smell that pretty much overwhelms everything else

T: There is a bit of a malt backbone here that hits at the beginning, but is then quickly chased off by the piny and oily hops that leave a wonderfully bitter aftertaste. Complex and delicious!

M: medium mouthful with a very crisp & dry finish.

D: incredible; It is complex yet refreshing with a delicious hoppy flavor that really lives up the "extra pale ale" moniker given to it. This is a damn fine beer and one that I will continue to enjoy throughout the summer.
