Poured from the bottle to a pint glass.

Appearance: Near perfect copper color; starts with a 1/2 finger head that is just off-white and fades to a thin and uneven skim on the surface; body is very clear with only moderate chill haze and shows pretty light carbonation; spotty lacing left on the sides of the glass.

Smell: Pretty light in the nose; earthy and grassy, very straw or hay-like; grainy (a little lager-esque, reminiscent of GLBC Dortmunder); very light hop presence balanced with a light malty presence as well.

Taste: Nice and earthy with that straw/grassy like flavor; mild hop presence that doesn't really add much bitterness to it, but just enough to add a dimension of it; slightly sweet malty backing as well as a slightly coppery flavor; quite simple, not complex at all and really pretty easy to drink.

Mouthfeel/Drinkability: Soft and smooth carbonation; very clean finish overall with only a very slight coating on the roof; quite different from other winter warmers with a thicker/maltier mouthfeel, but this one has a much higher drinkability because it doesn't weigh you down; the ABV is pretty moderate as well and this could almost be a sessionable beer.

A good amber, dark burgundy pour. Slight, but thick head.
Aromas of raisin, biscuit, some ginger (?) and orange surround the nose.
A nice taste. Starts as sweeter malt amber lager, good alcohol to warm you up. The sweetness is cut short by the hops. The biscuit and raisin are replaced with lemon and spice. Not too much for a good, clean finish.

A - Pours a nice amber colour, thumb of head with decent retention and some nice sheeting lacing.

S - Scent is quite mild, but buttery caramel and grassy hops come through.

T - Although mild on the nose, the flavour is where this brew shines dominated with milk caramel and toffee. A buttered bread flavour lingers alongside a touch of grassy hops and musty cardboard.

M - Medium, smooth and wet.

O - I was expecting something with a bit of spice and was pleased to find a simple, yet perfectly balanced ale offering up a solid caramel malt profile with a lightly hopped finish. Easily sessionable and well worth seeking out.
