Our Praline Amber Ale is brewed with a generous addition of Georgia Pecans and Madagascar vanilla. We also add lactose to accentuate the natural caramel flavors from the malt. These additions combine to produce a flavor reminiscent of a traditional Southern candy, the praline.

I received a can from @roguer in the NBS BIF #13. My first beer from Coastal Empire Beer Co. Poured into a pilsener glass. It pours a hazy, ruddy brown color akin to iced tea. The thin, creamy, ecru-colored head dissipated slowly. The nose is heavy and pecan and vanilla, which gives it a sweeter smell than typical for the style. Quite unusual. The taste truly follows the nose. The predominate flavor is vanilla but the pecans are also evident. They are nicely roasted. The base ale is solid with notes of nutty char and a hint of spice at the finish. It's well-bodied and carbonated and it drinks very easily at 5.2% ABV. With the 12 oz. can format you can easily down several in a session. And you won't be disappointed. I like the idea of this beer and it's well-executed. A nice change of pace. Enjoy it for what it is!

Pours a lovely amber brown. Appears clear when held to the light. A good four finger off-white head builds then dissipates pretty quickly leaving no residual head. Aroma has interesting notes of grainy malts, a generic malty nuttiness with a touch of vanilla and not much else.

Taste has notes of grainy malts with some definite notes of toasted pecans and vanilla. It drinks more like a brown ale than an amber ale, although that may be partially because the nuttiness of the pecan is playing with my palate. The vanilla flavor is there, but its not really sweet. Some light hoppy notes are present on the back end. Feel is light, with a thinner body. Bright carbonation. Semi-dry on the finish.

Really interesting beer.

Every now and then you come across something altogether special...

This was something special from the moment I started pouring it out of the can. A dark caramel colored brew with a syrupy texture to the eyes; decent froth but short-lived. The smell was a sweet mixture of caramel, the sugar from pralines, and some maltiness added in. Mouthfeel was very carbonated, more so than I prefer, detracting a bit, but not overpowering. Taste-wise it is a muted flavor of pralines (not overly sweet), some hop (not bitter at all), and very easy going. I really was surprised by this beer - expecting something akin a dessert beer, but experiencing so much more.

This beer pours a dark amber color with a minimal amount of haze and a tan head. Beautiful beer.

The nose is nutty aromas up front, with caramel notes as well. The taste has the nutty notes, but as this warms the caramel flavors come forward and the vanilla flavor emerges. The mouthfeel picks up on the vanilla and lends a creamy note to a beer that is 5.2% ABV, something I didn’t expect.

This is a hidden little gem, IMHO. I’m glad I have a second can of this to enjoy.

12 oz can with a 17 December 2019 canning date stamp on the bottom.
Pours with a clear, dark reddish-brown colored body topped by a decent beige head.
Nice bit mild malty and spicy aroma. The flavor follows but stronger and worth a nice.pecan note.
Overall: Very nice version of the style but this must be allowed to warm up to release a stronger better, more complex flavor.

Thanks to Roguer for this one from NBS BIF #10. 12oz can poured into 14oz teku. poured a lightly cloudy medium-dark brown color with 1-1/2 inches of tan head that had good retention but very light lacing.

Nice base malts in the scent, with just a hint of vanilla.

Pretty similar on the tongue, not really picking up any pecan.

The body was on the lighter side of average for the style, smooth, and had a medium-sweet finish.

Drinkability was fine, finished my can with no issues, but not sure I would seek out another.

Overall, a solid and enjoyable brew, just not a particularly notable one.

Dark reddish-amber ale, nearly a brown ale. Very nice head production and retention. Body is very lively and clear.

Sticking with the brown ale theme (vice amber), the nose features plenty of caramel and pine, nuts and cola. Smells bright, brisk, fresh.

Vanilla quickly becomes apparent on the palate, but it's neither sweet nor rich. Instead, it's a lively, moderately bitter (for the style), grainy brew. Lots of caramel grain, with a brown sugary finish. Extremely lively, with plenty of sting up front.

I don't get "praline" from this, and while the pecan and vanilla both contribute to the overall profile, it might not be in the way you expect. It is, however, very tasty and enjoyable. Easily worth ordering on tap, and a contender for occasional purchases for at-home consumption.

Pour here is darker Amber, medium bubble cap, lasting and leaving medium amounts of ringed lacing

Sweet and nutty nose

Poured from a can with a date code o can't figure out. The beer pours a deep reddish brown color with a thin, fizzy head.

The spices and pecans comes through on the smell. There is also some nice sweetness with caramel and vanilla.

The taste is very thin without a lot of the flavor I expected from the smell. It's slightly sweet and has a raisin flavor on the back end. There's also something slightly metallic that fades as it warms.

The mouthfeel is very thin and highly carbonated.

Overall the smell is your best part. There is not much to the taste on this beer.
